_The knowledge of who the architect of this magical artifact was has but all been lost. The frame is expertly crafted seemingly from iridescent obsidian from [[The Elemental Plane of Fire]], the glass - a perpetually frozen fracture of ice from the [[The Para-Elemental Plane of Ice|The Frostfell]], and the sands... well no one really knows their origin, simply their power._

The Sands of Time has 3 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells at 6th level (save DC 20): [[Haste]] (1 charge), [[Slow]] (1 charge), [[Dispel Magic]] (1 charge). You can also use a reaction to cast one of the following spells at 6th level (save DC 20): [[Counterspell]] (1 charge), [[Temporal Shunt]] (1 charge).
As an action, you can turn The Sands of Time causing them to pour form the top vessel to the bottom. You can only do this once every ten days. The sands pour for 1 minute and cannot be cancelled. While the sands are pouring, within 1 mile, no time magic can be cast (including spells from this artifact) and creatures, places, and objects are no longer under the effects of any existing time magic. If time magic was being concentrated on, the creature loses concentration. This also includes Features that are time based such as Portent and Chronal Shift.
When you turn The Sands of Time, you can verbally state a magical incantation to apply an effect to any creatures within 1 mile that you name.
- _**Tiri- thui faer uin duin Styx**_ - All named creatures have advantage on death saving throws. If damage would bring them to 0hp they instead drop to 1 hp (this effect can only happen once for each named creature). If the effected creature has a spell or feature such as Death Ward or Relentless Endurance they can choose which prevention effect happens first.
- _**Dramm- swiftlui a with huor**_ - All named creatures can make one additional attack whenever they take the Attack action. Additionally, spells are treated as if they were cast 1 level higher than the original spell slot consumed.
- _**Lost cín mind, bodui, a faer**_ - All named creatures, once per round, can expend a hit point die to add to any of their d20 rolls. They must do this before they know if the d20 roll would succeed or fail.
Finally, The Sands of Time can be destroyed. The artifact has 20 hp, 16 AC, and is invulnerable to all damage other than force damage and thunder damage. All of the effects listed above only remain in effect if The Sands of Time remains on the plane where it was used. Using [[Leomund's Secret Chest]] to store The Sands of Time, for example, would immediately cancel the effects as it transports to the Ethereal Plane. Using a spell such as [[Globe of Invulnerability]], or simply a steel box to cover the artifact, would keep the effects active.

# History
The Sands of Time were kept on [[The Corpse-Asteroid of Aarakontias]] by [[Zal-Shee]] before [[The Boy Scout Boys]]' [[Quest to Retrieve the Sands of Time]], where they claimed possession of the artifact.
They later used the artifact in [[The Final Confrontation with The Thought Collector]].
Presumably, it is still held by [[Lazhna Whitesmith]].
