For months during the late spring and summer, the [[Vela]] work tirelessly on a few land agricultural projects but mostly sea and river-farming exploits. The catching and salting of fish, gathering of shellfish, and farming of sea kelp and other aquatic plants make up the bulk of preparations for the colder seasons. While there are still a few months left of the harvest season for a few types plant-based foods, the fishing and hunting stop this week as the [[Vela]] focus on restocking the fish and shellfish populations before their survival of the cold seasons. Traditional dishes include: - [[Galsawa]] - a fish broth soup that is cooked endlessly throughout the week in the center of the festival. Various types of fish, sea and river plants, and a few land vegetables are carefully prepared along with sea salt and a few other spices. - [[Kale Chips]] - dehydrated in special barrels and then coated in sea salt and a type of sea-chili flake, these are enjoyed by everyone but especially kids as they snack between large meals. - [[Steamed Mussels]] - a type of quick food stall food that can be enjoyed as one enjoys the festival. Served in an easy to carry double wooden box, one can extract the mussel and put the shell in the other box, simply dropping off the wooden box at another food stall they come across. - [[Sushi]] - carefully prepared Nigiri-styled sushi can be found at just about every corner of the festival and is commonly enjoyed with a type of salty sauce that's extracted from a type of river plant.
