# Summary ## [[Post-Reclamation of Quarry Downtime]] *[[The Saucy Individuals]] rest and recover following [[Reclamation of the Haven's Breach Quarry]].* # Adventure Log ## [[19 Flamerule 1489]], [[Haven's Breach]] A cold chill falls over [[Haven's Breach]]. Fishermen are breaking ice in [[The Cove]] in order to fish. The craftsmen of Haven's Breach will have completed new magic items using the [[Hive Queen]]'s carapace in one week, giving the party a short period of rest. [[Prynazalya|Pryn]] takes some wax from the Hive Queen's lair and uses them to make hero won candles ([[Sleight of Hand]]) it goes pretty well. She makes several of [[Pryn's Handmade Hive Queen Wax Candles]]. ## [[20 Flamerule 1489]], [[Haven's Breach]] Dalas uses [[Hysfana's Ink and Quill]] to send a letter to [[Gremelda]]: ![[Letter from Dalas to Gremelda]] ## [[21 Flamerule 1489]], [[Haven's Breach]] [[Dalas Greybark|Dalas]] decides to visit [[The Archaeology Guild]] to learn more about [[Currg]], where [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|The Crystal Blade, Shepard the Flock]] was once shattered before being turned into [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone]] long ago. [[Prynazalya|Pryn]] and [[Ag]] join him but [[Big Inky]] decides not to come along. Inside the worn tent that is the [[Archaeology Guild - Haven's Breach Chapter|The Archaeology Guild Headquarters]], the group is greeted by the smell of sulfur and salts, as well as strange obsidian pillars that offer heat, but no light. Many [[Archaeologist|Archaeologists]] are studying [[The Precursors]] here. The group meets with [[Professor Thalen Alvanec]], who greets them and explains briefly his recent investigation into the [[Lizardfolk Colony]]. He thanks the party for their exploits. Dalas asks the Professor about [[Currg]], and he admits that it is not his area of expertise, but he directs the group to another Archaeologist, [[Serena]], who has circular glasses, frazzled brown hair, school robes from [[The Arcantome Institute]]. She is awkward and doesn't seem to care for her appearance. She greets the group awkwardly but when they have a moment alone drops the act and behaves normally, explaining she just acts that way so people leave her alone to work. Dalas asks her about Currg and she asks in turn where he heard it from. He mentions that he read of it in [[Items/Records, Publications and Writings/Book/Chronicles of the Green Blades/Chronicles of the Green Blades|The Chronicles of the Green Blades]] but does not bring up it's unique connection to his [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|Shield]]. Dalas remarks how much knowledge of history has been lost, as he's never heard of Currg at all before recently, and Serena laments that colonizers often destroy history, and that Xoctl is unique in that that hasn't occurred. Serena brings out an [[Ancient Orcish Book on Currg]]. ![[Ancient Orcish Book on Currg]] Serena shows off the protective magic on the books by trying to rip a page. Nothing happens! Serena brings out a second book, [[Book on a Human Account of Currg]]. ![[Book on a Human Account of Currg]] Serena, noticing Pryn, also brings out a [[Morning Mountain Story Book]]. ![[Morning Mountain Story Book]] Serena gives the book to Pryn. The group thanks her and departs. Outside, Pryn and Dalas discuss what they have learned. Neither of them has seen Arzyliamorn depicted as an elf before, but Dalas remarks it's not unusual for [[True Dragon|Dragons]] to do such things. After all, [[Balsorym|The King]] is a Dragon and famously took on a [[Human]] form just in Dalas' lifetime. Thinking about it further, it makes sense given the proportionally greater number of [[Elf|Elves]] 1000 years ago. The [[Elvish]] language is rooted in [[Draconic]], and so Arzyliamorn might have taken on a form familiar to elves to converse with them. Dalas wonders about the mysteries surrounding Currg. Pryn wonders if [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|The Shield]] has some memory of what happened there. Dalas tries to access the memories of the shield. ...nothing happens. Pryn tries to access the memories of the shield. Pryn sees flashes of memories of the shield's life: - As [[Arzyliamorn]] in [[The Hoarfrost]] - As a sword, fighting [[Orc|Orcs]] and [[Giant|Giants]] amongst [[Human|Humans]] and [[Elf|Elves]] on a battlefield - The passing of blade from [[Knight]] to Knight over generations - Storms, and booming thunder, unimaginable pain as the sword is shattered, and Arzyliamorn too feels it. - A liminal space, a void. - Eventually, being reforged as a shield. Pryn feels some unspoken thread pulling her towards Currg.
