# Summary
## [[The Storming of Morn's Peak]]
A young winged [[Arzylian Kobold]]: the spitting image of her species progenitor, [[Arzyliamorn]], practices in the martial arts of her people, [[The Arzylian Arts]], with her grizzled mentor [[Gorzyn]]. Gorzyn lectures Pryn on the importance of conquering her fear and staying focused, though Pryn is more interested in discussing her departure from the village: an opportunity to explore the outside world that she eagerly awaits.
Following her combat lesson, Pryn attends her private History lesson with the [[Emerald Kobold]] [[Nalaket]], who instructs her on the history of [[Respite]], the closest [[Human]] civilization and their [[The Order of the Green Blades]], an order of [[Knight|Knights]] that wield [[Arzyliamorn's Crystal Blades]]: the spines of the great dragon who died long ago, though the lesson mainly bores Pryn.
Next, Pryn attends the communal breakfast, where she eats alongside her [[Clutchmate]] [[Ovranzo]], who is studying to be a [[Songsword]] craftsman. Pryn invites him to join her on her upcoming adventure, and Ovranzo accepts, overjoyed.
Pryn continues about her day, attending the regular lore class alongside her clutchmates, followed by a class in the Arzylian Arts where she duels her rival and childhood friend, [[Tanuryn]], though the two have grown apart as Pryn embraced being a true dragon. The duel is fairly one sided with Pryn as the victor, though they both insist they were evenly matched.
After her lessons, Pryn flies about [[Morn's Peak]], enjoying the warmth of the sun and the brisk mountain air, as the people of [[Nylavorna]] stare up at her, the first [[Crystal Dragon]] in 1,000 years, in wonder. While in the air, Pryn sees her mentors Gorzyn and Nalaket arguing. She flies down to join them, but their conversation abruptly stops. They bid her farewell and continue on their way to the house of [[Calicept]], another of Pryn's mentors.
Pryn follows and eavesdrops. Pryn learns that her mentors do not consider her ready to adventure on her own, and that they plan to keep her in training for several more months, rather than let her leave in a week as they originally planned. Using [[Detect Thoughts]] she delves deeper into [[Calicept]]'s mind, and learns that, while he wishes he could convince his fellows, he wishes that Pryn would simply leave on her own to put the situation to rest.
Pryn leaves, resolved to depart on her adventure immediately, and begins gathering her things, though her [[Prynazalya's Uncle|Uncle]] catches on, and simply wishes her well. Before Pryn can depart, her mentors find her: though not to stop her. They warn her that [[Urgan's Army]] is attacking the village, and that they must all flee at once through the tunnels. Pryn at first resists, insisting that her purpose is to save her people, but ultimately relents.
Pryn finishes gathering her things as the village springs to life to join the fight. [[Ovranzo]] finds her and the group sets out through the tunnels. As they move through the tunnels, they are ambushed by [[Goblin|Goblins]], [[Gorzyn]], then [[Nalaket]], then [[Calicept]] each choose to stay behind and hold off the goblins as Prynazalya and Ovranzo escape down the mountain.
Again, Ovranzo and Prynazalya are ambushed by Goblins, but they are rescued by [[Tanuryn]], who joins them in their escape. Eventually, they find peace in a forest at the foot of the mountain. The trio resolves to form a [[Prynazalya's Followers|Kobold Army]] and retake Nylavorna someday.
# Adventure Log
## [[27 Flamerule 1488]], [[Nylavorna]]
In the village of [[Nylavorna]], the snowcapped [[Morn's Peak]] of [[The Morning Mountains]] , the clanging of steel rings out. [[Gorzyn]] and [[Prynazalya]], the [[Crystal Dragon]] [[Arzyliamorn]] reincarnated, are dueling, practicing [[The Arzylian Arts]]. Pryn is distracted, and Gorzyn warns her of the danger of fighting [[Goblin|Goblins]], [[Orc|Orcs]] and [[Basilisk|Basilisks]] if she does not take this seriously.
Pryn, normally carefree is serious in this moment as she engages in her training. As she is reminded to focus, her movements become fluid as she deftly dodges away, her [[Songsword|Songswords]] whistling a harmonic riff. Pryn takes her instructor Gorzyn's back.
Gorzyn strikes at Pryn's feet with his tail, attempting to trip her, Pryn saves herself, gracefully rolling away.
Their training continues for a time, and afterwards, Gorzyn shares words of praise for Pryn, but admonishes her for her lack of focus. Pryn expresses excitement for leaving the village, which she will soon do.
Pryn asks Gorzyn when she will leave. Gorzyn tells Pryn that she must conquer fear to survive in the world.
Gorzyn tells Pryn about an [[Urgan's Army|Army]] down in [[The Plains in the Morning Mountains|The Plains]], who are much more dangerous than the [[Slightly Larger Bat]] they are accustomed to fighting.
Gorzyn says that Pryn will only understand once she is out there in the world, to which Pryn replies that should leave now, if that is the case.
[[Nalaket]], the lore-master greets them at the door, claiming Gorzyn has made Pryn late for her lesson in the histories.
Pryn leaves with Nalaket for her lesson.
[[Nalaket]] teaches Pryn about the culture of [[Respite]], a human settlement closely entwined with the history of the great dragon [[Arzyliamorn]]. He questions Pryn on her knowledge of Respite, [[The Order of the Green Blades]], [[The Battle of Respite]], and [[Arzyliamorn's Crystal Blades]].
He expounds upon the structure of The Green Blades, including:
- [[Lord-Commander]]
- [[Master Of Blades]]
- [[Master of the Keep]]
- [[Master of Histories]]
- [[Knight]]
- [[Knight-Mentor]]
- [[Squire]]
[[Nalaket]] is short on details of the exact members of the Green Blades, as the gem dragonkin have long since lost contact with the humans of Respite for centuries.
The history lesson continues for a while longer as Nalaket's longwinded lecture bores Pryn.
With Pryn's morning lessons complete, she steps out into the crisp morning air. She enjoys the sunrise, taking in the sight of the morning sun reflecting off the snow.
Pryn takes the time to enjoy the sight of her home, knowing she will leave it soon, and then proceeds.
Pryn goes to eat breakfast with her [[Clutchmate|Clutchmates]] [[Tanuryn]] and [[Ovranzo]], passing by the [[Dolum Tree]] in the [[Nylavorna Courtyard]].
Tanuryn seems indifferent to Pryn, while Ovranzo is excited to see her. They eat a variety of foods, including rocks. They discuss [[The Order of the Green Blades|The Green Blades]], how cool they are, and how great of followers they would make for [[Prynazalya|Pryn]].
Pryn invites Ovranzo to come along with her when she leaves the village.
Ovranzo is overjoyed and accepts!
They discuss how Pryn will be the first to travel so far from the village in centuries.
Breakfast ends, and Pryn and her clutchmates attend another lore class, though this one is for the whole clutch, rather than a private lesson just for Pryn. Pryn sits in the back so she can sleep through class.
After class, [[Prynazalya|Pryn]] runs into [[Calicept]] deep in thought, and the two acknowledge each other as they pass by. Pryn thinks nothing of this moment.
Next, Pryn proceeds to her class in [[The Arzylian Arts]], the [[Bard|Bardic]] musical/martial tradition of their people.
Amongst the students, [[Prynazalya|Pryn]] and [[Tanuryn]] are the most gifted. The two duel. Pryn is oblivious to Tanuryn's disdain for her, as the two used to be close childhood friends, Pryn assumes they are still on good terms.
In their duels, Pryn constantly one-ups Tanuryn, though she is largely oblivious and just having fun, while Tanuryn focuses primarily on the fundamentals, though he is putting in considerable effort to try and defeat Pryn.
After sparring, Pryn chats with Tanuryn. Pryn accuses Tanuryn of going easy on her, though Tanuryn insists they are evenly matched, and that Pryn will never get ahead of him. He leaves in a huff.
Pryn goes to see Ovranzo at [[Ovranzo's Hut]], built part way into the mountain. Pryn enters to find Ovranzo stuffing his face with some food. The two ponder whether the hole letting light in at the top of the courtyard was natural or kobold-made. Pryn flies up to take a look. They deduce that it was a natural hole that someone expanded later.
They discuss Ovranzo's project of creating the perfect [[Whetstone]] for sharpening [[Songsword|Songswords]], and what rocks [[The Order of the Green Blades|The Green Blades]] must eat, and what those rocks must taste like. They plan for their eventual departure for Nylavorna over tea.
Pryn departs, the sun is setting now in the golden hour. From up this high she can see the shadow of the mountains extending deep into the valley below.
Pryn flies around in the warmth of the sun, flying up as high as she can, enjoying the contrast between the heat of the sun and the chill of the cold mountain air. She sees how small the village looks from above, and looks out to see other villages throughout [[The Morning Mountains]], wondering at what they might be doing.
Some of the villagers look up at [[Prynazalya]] in awe, truly believing her to be [[Arzyliamorn]] reborn.
While in the air she sees [[Nalaket]] and [[Gorzyn]] heading towards [[Calicept]]'s home while arguing. She swoops down and lands next to them and asks them what they are talking about.
They make awkward small talk for a moment before Nalaket excuses them so that they might go speak to Calicept.
Pryn notices that Gorzyn said nothing, which is uncharacteristic.
Pryn follows behind them as they approach [[Calicept's House]]. She finds a place to hide and eavesdrops. She overhears them discussing whether or not to send Pryn out into the world. Nalaket insists she will die within months if she leaves now.
Calicept agrees that she must learn more, but insists that Arzyliamorn too departed at six years old.
Calicept asks Gorzyn his thoughts. Gorzyn insists matter-of-factly that she is gifted, but that she needs more time to train.
Pryn is disheartened that her mentors have so little faith.
Calicept relents, giving up on their plans to send Pryn out in a week to train her indefinitely.
Pryn uses [[Detect Thoughts]] and learns of Calicept's desire to push back on the mentors, but also wavering doubt that they are probably right.
All of Pryn's mentors want to keep her here, despite her skill and talent.
Pryn probes deeper into Calicept's mind, trying to figure out what she needs to do to prove she's ready, or when they *will* let her leaves.
> *Calicept knows that chasing perfection in a pupil is doing them a disservice, and that he wishes her mentors would see this. He is committed to making decisions on this subject as a unified group.
>
> His mind is racing about other cultures and cities he can teach Pryn about to put Nalaket and Gorzyn's mind at ease.
>
> He knows his fellows are simply afraid: they know the world is a dangerous place.
>
> Maybe he could convince the others given another several months or a year.
>
> "If only she would go on her own, then I wouldn't have to convince anyone..."*
Pryn resolves herself to leave Nylavorna without her mentor's approval.
Pryn sneaks away as far as she can before the spell breaks, knowing Calicept will know his mind was probed.
and then goes back to [[Prynazalya's House|Her House]]. Her bed is a nest of mismatched blankets, surrounded by candles and sparkly baubles. She has a carved wooden box full of [[jewelry]]. Her set of [[Songsword|Songswords]] sit upon a display stand.
She grabs her stuff and leaves, running into [[Prynazalya's Uncle|Her Uncle]] on the way out. He asks where she's going and she insists she is just going to find rocks. He sees through this lie, asking her why she's leaving. She insists her things are packed so that she can be ready the moment they tell her she can.
Her Uncle sees through this and tells her that if it's time for her adventure, they are so proud of her, and to find people that believe in her.
Pryn heads to to [[Pryn's Favorite Rock Spot|Her Favorite Rock Spot]] and stashes her things there, and then heads to [[Nylavorna Courtyard]], now illuminated by candles for dinner.
Ovranzo eats with Pryn again. Pryn tells Ovranzo nothing, fearing he will crack under the pressure. Pryn is tense, waiting for her mentors to confront her, but they never come.
Dinner ends, and the town winds down for the night. Pryn heads home, but is too excited to sleep.
In the night, Pryn is visited by Gorzyn, insisting they have to leave at once, claiming [[Urgan's Army]] has reached [[Morn's Peak]]. Pryn rushes to gather her things from [[Pryn's Favorite Rock Spot|Her Rock Spot]]. While in the air, she can see the torches of the Orc army approaching and hear the clanging of steel.
Pryn lands at her spot and reclaims her things. Pryn regroups with Gorzyn, now joined by Calicept and Nalaket as everyone Nylavorna arms themselves or flees.
Pryn questions why she isn't fighting the Orcs, but her mentors insists she has to leave. Calicept insists that she will one day return and reclaim their lands, but that she must go now, and that saving her, the reincarnation of Arzyliamorn, is the most important thing the village can do.
Pryn is frustrated with the hopelessness of the situation, and that she is only leaving because she is in danger.
Pryn asks what the point of running is if there is nobody left to be a dragon for. Calicept insists that the Orcs will take prisoners, and that they can be saved later.
Pryn takes her Songswords out as they argue about evacuating vs fighting.
Pryn asks if Tanuryn is staying or leaving, but Calicept doesn't know.
Ovranzo rushes up asking when the adventure starts, but Pryn seems uncertain, but eventually relents.
Pryn, Ovranzo, Calicept, Gorzyn, and Nalaket evacuate. Pryn looks for Tanuryn as they flee.
The group barrels down a tunnel, reaching an intersection filled with [[Goblin|Goblins]]. alicept instructs the group to block off the Goblins, giving Pryn safe passage to proceed without them.
Combat begins.
The Goblins rush forward, stabbing [[Nalaket]] and [[Gorzyn]] with their daggers.
Calicept casts [[Healing Word]], healing Gorzyn.
Gorzyn charges forwards with a jumping slash slaying one of Goblins.
Nalaket casts [[Sacred Flame]], but misses.
Pryn lets out a [[Kobold#Draconic Cry|Draconic Cry]], bolstering her allies, and then casts [[Green-Flame Blade]], surrounding her Songsword in a green radiant light before slicing at the Goblin in front of her with a spinning blade. The radiant light spins out, striking a nearby Goblin as well.
Nalaket calls out to Pryn to be careful.
Goblins strike out, wounding Pryn and knocking Gorzyn unconscious, piling on him and stabbing him.
Calicept uses [[Cure Wounds]] on Gorzyn, returning him to life and reversing his wounds. Gorzyn thanks his friend for saving him.
Gorzyn shoves Pryn back away from the danger, reminding him what he said in the past about mastering fear.
Pryn rushes down the hallway as Gorzyn engages the Goblins in combat as more Goblins rush into the fray.
Pryn casts [[Healing Word]] on Gorzyn as she flees. Her magic takes the form of an Arzylian folk song vaguely resembling Chappel Roan's *Pink Pony Club*.
He smiles as the other flees.
Nalaket flees with Pryn, lettings out a [[Dragon's Breath]] to fend of Goblins as they flee.
Calicept pushes Pryn and Ovranzo into the final tunnel leading out into the plane.
He says "Show courage Pryn, we're counting on you. See you in the clouds."
He turns around and summons swords of divine flame, engaging the Goblins in a beautiful display of the Arzylian arts as goblins pile in in pursuit one after another. Calicept is perhaps more powerful than even Pryn.
Pryn and Ovranzo flee down into the foothills. Ovranzo is tripped by a Goblin who grabs his ankle. Now alone, Pryn and Ovranzo must face the Goblins alone.
Pryn uses [[Bardic Inspiration]] on Ovranzo and casts [[Silent Image]] to create an image of [[Calicept]] swinging his radiant swords and looking menacing.
The Goblin moves to attack the illusion of Calicept, but falls flat on his face.
Ovranzo uses his blacksmith hammer to strike the goblin holding on to him, causing the goblin to let go, and begins crawling away.
Pryn pulls Ovranzo away from the goblins and up onto his feet.
The goblins chase after them, pulling the dagger on Pryn, but Tanuryn jumps in at the last moment, bringing his [[Songmace|Mace]] down and killing the Goblin before joining his fellows in fleeing.
The other Goblin flees, and combat ends.
The group rushes down the foothills. Tanuryn tells Pryn he had to come find her, lest she become stronger than him.
The three kobolds make their way out of [[The Morning Mountains]] towards [[The Lacodian Frontier]], traveling as far as their feet will carry them.
They make camp in [[The Forest at the Foot of the Morning Mountains]].
Pryn reflects on her unexpected adventure and the dire situation back in Nylavorna. She wonders who is even left to rule if she ever returns.
Tanuryn throws more kindling on the fire as Ovranzo starts cooking the rations he had brought with him. The three eat and hydrate and prepare for the next day of their adventure.
Tanuryn reassures them that if anyone can eventually retake Nylavorna, it's them: the two strongest. They resolve to find an army to help them take back their home.
Ovranzo promises to care for their equipment.
Pryn ponders the rocks from her favorite rock spot and realizes that she won't be able to get more rocks from there any time soon. She decides to save her favorite rocks for later.
They give cheers to the beginning of [[Prynazalya's Followers]].
Pryn asks who attacked Nylavorna. Ovranzo mentioned that it must have been the scouts of [[Urgan's Army]] given the black and red heraldry. Their quick approach was unexpected and fast. Pryn wonders why they wanted Nylavorna. Nobody knows.
Tanuryn asserts that they will find out when they retake the village.
The party rests. Pryn lights a candle, and sleep eventually finds them.
They set out the next morning in [[Prynazalya's Exodus]].
