# Summary ## [[The Fall of Valikin's Landing]] [[Prynazalya]], [[Dalas Greybark]], [[Rinda]], [[Grub|"Grub"]], [[Tanuryn]], and [[Ovranzo]], alongside other refugees from [[Indigo Valley (Town)|Indigo Valley]] make camp in the [[Refugee Camp]] just outside [[Northern Gate of Valikin's Landing]]. After Pryn shows the [[Refugee Camp Guard Captain]] [[Corva Lightleaf's Seal]], they are allowed expedited entrance into [[Valikin's Landing]]. Once inside the city, Pryn cajoles Dalas in joining her to go see the [[Green Blades Headquarters in Valikin's Landing]], knowing he is an avid reader of their history. Dalas is hesitant but eventually relents, and they set off in search of the headquarters. Along the way they stop in a [[Valikin's Landing Candle Shop|Candle Shop]] where Pryn purchases a [[Sword Candle]], a [[Castle Tower Candle]], and a [[Three Mast Ship Candle]] for [[Prynazalya's Hoard|Her Hoard]]. Dalas teaches Pryn about haggling and buys a used copy of [[Chronicles of the Green Blades Vol. 4]] from the [[Valikin's Landing Book Shop|Book Shop]] next door. The group arrives at the [[Green Blades Headquarters in Valikin's Landing|Green Blade Headquarters]] and Dalas refuses to enter, saying that it is not appropriate for someone of his lowly station to enter uninvited. Pryn speaks to the [[Intense Squire]] guarding the door and shows him [[Corva Lightleaf's Seal]]. The Squire grants them entry. Inside they meet the massive [[Goliath]], [[Galad Steelsworn|Sir Galad Steelsworn]]. Prynazalya explains her request for help reclaiming [[Nylavorna]] and Galad instantly agrees to help. Pryn and Galad begin planning how they will amass more allies while Dalas tries as hard as he can to go unnoticed, terrified that Galad might recognize him from their shared past in [[The Order of the Green Blades]]. Ultimately, the group leaves as Galad begins to prepare to search out his contacts who may be willing to help. The group reunites with [[Rinda]] and [[Grub|"Grub"]] at [[The Rusty Shield]]. Dalas discusses his plan to flee the war to [[Krashaprovos]], and the group begins preparing to make money in order to fund the trip. Pryn and Tanuryn perform [[The Arzylian Arts]] in the street to earn some money. At night, Galad Steelsworn visits The Rusty Shield and reports to Pryn, stating that he has not yet found allies, as many people are fearful of the war and are attempting to flee across the sea, rather than stay and help fight. The next day, Dalas and Ovranzo do odd jobs around town helping local [[Blacksmith|Blacksmiths]], giving Dalas an opportunity to learn a little more about [[Nylavornan Smithing]]. Meanwhile, Pryn and Tanuryn put on a show in the street in which passersby bet on whether or not they can eat a rock. After drumming up a large crowd, they chow down on the rock, collecting a healthy profit. The crowd grows angry, claiming that the Kobolds hustled them, and tensions rise as they threaten violence. A [[Particularly Angry Man]] grabs and lifts Pryn into the air, demanding the money back, however Galad Steelsworn arrives and lifts the man into the air in turn, and asks him to reconsider his course of action. The angry man lets Pryn go free, and Galad informs Pryn of [[Galad Steelsworn's Potential Ally|A Potential Ally]] that he has discovered, though he does not mention who. At night, [[Grub|"Grub"]], Pryn, and Tanuryn visit [[Valikin's Landing Fighting Pit|A Fighting Pit]] where Pryn and Tanuryn take on a dangerous match against [[Knuckle Paddy]] and [[Big Smiles]], they negotiate the rules of the match, in which they will use weapons, but no armor or magic. Pryn is knocked out early into the fight, receiving a [[Lingering Injury]] to her back, but Tanuryn manages to fend off both of the other attackers, resulting in a victory for the Kobolds. They return to The Rusty Shield with their share of the winnings, and Dalas lectures "Grub" about keeping their [[Arzylian Kobold|Honored Friends]] safe. The next day, Pryn awakens to find the [[Brusevan River]] running red with blood and smoke on the horizon: [[Urgan's Army]] has arrived at [[Valikin's Landing]]. She rushes back to The Rusty Shield to inform the others, and they quickly back and rush to the [[The Docks of Valikin's Landing|The Docks]]: along with the rest of the city. The Docks are packed with people trying to get aboard any ship they can to flee the city. The grizzled old [[Mercenary]] [[Cormoran Damnstein]] calls out to the group from [[Cormoran Damnstein|His Ship]], offering them passage: he was waiting for [[Cormoran Damnstein's Friend|His Friend]] who never arrived and is ready to depart. The group rushes to load their things onto Cormoran's Ship as [[Goblin|Goblins]] and [[Orc|Orcs]] rush onto the docks, attacking them. Combat ensues as the [[Copper Dragon]] [[Balsorym|King Balsorym]] soars overhead to join the battle elsewhere in the city. As the battle at the docks continues, [[Galad Steelsworn|Sir Galad Steelsworn]] arrives. He wields a[[Dwarven Darksteel Sword]] and a unique green-blue [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|Crystal Shield]] as he wades into battle. Meanwhile, a massive Orc wielding a brutal [[The Soul Axe|Axe]] appears on the battlefield: [[Urgan, Doombringer]] is here, bringing with him an aura of fear and death. Urgan and Galad clash, and Urgan kills Galad in a single swing of his axe, cleaving both the shield and the man in two. As the group flees aboard Cormoran's Ship, Pryn reaches out with her [[Mage Hand]] and grabs the shield, which Galad offers up freely in his final moment of life. As the group sails away, they watch Valikin's Landing burn. Prynazalya and the kobolds lament their home, certain now that there are no survivors. Pryn holds the crystal shield close and it speaks in her mind, telling her it's name: [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|Heart of Stone]]. With no [[Moon Crest]], the group's options for destinations are limited. At Cormoran's suggestion, they set out for [[Haven's Breach]], a small port far to the south in [[Xoctl]]... # Adventure Log ## [[29 Eleint 1488]], [[Valikin's Landing]] [[Dalas Greybark]], [[Prynazalya]], [[Tanuryn]], [[Ovranzo]], [[Rinda]] and [[Grub|"Grub"]] are in [[Refugee Camp]] just outside the [[Northern Gate of Valikin's Landing]]. They observe as the [[City Guards of Valikin's Landing|City Guards]] go through the camp, taking down the information of each refugee so that the most important (or useful) might be afforded the opportunity to enter the city first. Dalas warns Pryn that normal peasants will not be let inside any time soon, and that she will need to impress the guards in order to get them inside. The guards finally reach the party and asks them their business. Pryn presents [[Corva Lightleaf's Seal]] while Dalas fills out the paperwork. The guard is surprised to see the [[Heraldry of the Lightleaf Family]] and rushes away to inform his boss. A short time later, the [[Refugee Camp Guard Captain|Guard Captain]] arrives and discusses' Pryn's business in the city, though he is skeptical to let everyone in the party inside, on account of the extremely limited resources in the city. Pryn convinces him by insisting the kobolds will only need to eat rocks and will not count against the city's resources. The captain begrudgingly accepts and escorts the party inside. Inside the walls, the group sees that the city is packed with refugees. Near the northern gate, the buildings are simple and made out of clay and stone, but the buildings become taller and more elaborate closer to the [[The Docks of Valikin's Landing|The Docks]]. The refugee family traveling alongside the party thanks them a final time for all their help but insists they don't want to burden the rest of the group further and departs. Dalas gives Pryn the best directions he can to find the [[Green Blades Headquarters in Valikin's Landing]] and tries to go his own way as well, seeking passage on a ship to [[Krashaprovos]] far across [[The Deep]]. Pryn pleads with Dalas, knowing he is a fan of [[The Order of the Green Blades|The Green Blades]] and that he must want to see the headquarters and the [[Knight|Knights]]. Dalas refuses again until Pryn forcibly pulls him along and he relents. [[Rinda]], amused by the situation, plans to find lodging and meet back in the very same square later. ![[Going_to_see_the_Dragon_Sword_Guys.png]] *Pryn forces Dalas to come along.* Dalas and Pryn depart. They navigate through tightly packed urban [[Valikin's Landing Markets|Markets]], where Pryn eventually finds [[Valikin's Landing Candle Shop|A Candle Shop]]. Inside, she *demands* the shop's best candles. The [[Arrogant Shop Keep]] at first refuses, presenting Pryn with a simple candle, which Pryn refuses. The shop keep presents Pryn with a slightly larger candle, which Pryn again refuses before pointing to three candles resembling a [[Sword Candle|Sword]], [[Three Mast Ship Candle|Three Mast Ship]], and a [[Castle Tower Candle|Castle Tower]]. Pryn purchases the candles for 1 [[gold]] without bartering. Dalas tells Pryn about the bartering culture in [[The Alavastian Empire]] and they walk into [[Valikin's Landing Book Shop|The Book Store next door]] to demonstrate. Dalas speaks to the [[Elderly Shopkeeper]] and ends up purchasing a lightly used copy of [[Chronicles of the Green Blades Vol. 4]] for 4 [[Silver]] and 5 [[Copper]] after haggling for a while on the price. Pryn is baffled that somebody would essentially lie about what they were willing to sell or buy something for. The group continue through the markets until they eventually arrive at [[Green Blades Headquarters in Valikin's Landing|The Green Blade's Headquarters]]. Dalas chooses to wait outside, insisting that it would be inappropriate for commonfolk like him to enter. Pryn tells Dalas he must come in if invited, and he agrees. Pryn approaches the door but is stopped by two [[Squire|Squires]] guarding the door who ask her business. She shows them [[Corva Lightleaf's Seal]]. The guards instantly recognize the seal and one rushes inside. Pryn asks the remaining Squire if he is "one of the dragon sword guys". The [[Intense Squire]]. He explains his station as a [[Squire]] in [[The Order of the Green Blades]], what an honor it would be to become a [[Knight]] and even to give his life for the Order, and the great sense of responsibility he feels towards his people. Pryn vaguely explains her search for followers, which perplexes the squire. The other squire returns, and Pryn, Tanuryn, and Ovranzo are allowed entrance. Pryn asks if Dalas can enter as well and the guards accept. Dalas comes along reluctantly. They are escorted through the halls, passing by several Knights, Squires, and [[Page|Pages]] of the Order, along with a Knight of [[The Order of the Copper Scales]]. Eventually, they are let out into a training area, where they observe a tall, stoic, muscular [[Goliath]] training with a [[Dwarven Darksteel Sword]]. The squire escorting the party approaches the Goliath and addresses him as [[Galad Steelsworn|Sir Steelsworn]]. Steelsworn splits a training dummy in two and asks a squire to replace it before turning to introduce himself to the group. Pryn explains her relationship to [[Corva Lightleaf|Lady Corva Lightleaf]] who sent her in search of Galad and the plight of her people. She explains [[The Storming of Morn's Peak]] and that [[Respite]] too is potentially under siege, and that she is attempting to reclaim her home. All the while, Dalas tries to make himself as small as possible, having recognized Galad from his time in The Order of the Green Blades many years ago, hoping Galad does not recognize him in turn. Galad tells Pryn that [[Corva Lightleaf's Seal]] will not command fealty from any other Green Blades, and they begin planning to recruit more soldiers for the battles ahead, either from [[Krashaprovos]], from [[The South-East of Lacodia]], or from local [[Mercenary]] companies. Pryn mentions Dalas' name in passing as they depart. Dalas and Galad shake hands, and Galad comments on how sweaty Dalas is. Dalas is certain that he has been recognized, but Galad says nothing. The party departs and reunites with Rinda and "Grub". They seek out lodgings. The group stops by [[The Calm Lake]] and [[Five Cooks]], both of which are full, before getting two rooms at [[The Rusty Shield]]. The group discusses their next steps. Dalas mentions finding a ship to [[Krashaprovos]] and escaping the war altogether, seeing no further way he can help Pryn on her quest. However, passage to Krashaprovos is expensive and the group will need to make money. Pryn starts busking with Tanuryn, playing [[Darcy Leap the Wall]] and [[The Morning Crown]] after a quick warmup. They make 2 [[Gold]]. Pryn finds a [[Squire]] and sends word to Galad that they are staying at The Rusty Shield. Galad arrives at the tavern later in the night to the awe of the patrons, including Rinda who cannot believe how huge the Goliath is. He reports to Pryn, saying that he has found no allies yet, commenting that many people are afraid and would rather run away overseas than stay and fight. Dalas does his best to be invisible when Galad is present. Galad says that he will continue searching for allies over the next few days, and will send a Squire with a report in the morning. As Galad leaves, he scans the room, using [[Detect Evil and Good]] to search for threats. The group rests for the night. ## [[30 Eleint 1488]], [[Valikin's Landing]] The group awakens after a night of rest, and goes about finding work in their own way. Rinda will do odd jobs and "Grub" mentions some plans to find work at night. Dalas and Ovranzo find work aiding local [[Blacksmith|Blacksmiths]]. Dalas learns some about [[Nylavornan Smithing]] in the process. They earn 5 [[Silver]] in the process. Meanwhile, Pryn and Tanuryn put on a show eating rocks, capitalizing on the continual disbelief that the people of Valikin's Landing exhibit when [[Gem Kobold|Gem Kobolds]] eat rocks. They gather a large rock and draw a crowd, inciting people to bet on whether or not they can eat the rock. People begin betting that the little Kobolds cannot eat the rock, and after working the crowd for a while, Pryn and Tanuryn chow down on the rock, proving the disbelievers wrong. People become angry, claiming that the kobolds hustled them. A [[Particularly Angry Man]] approaches and picks Pryn up, threatening her and demanding his money back. Tanuryn readies to fight, but Pryn tells him to get a guard instead. Tanuryn leaves in search of the guards. Pryn breaks free and tries to fly away, but the man catches her again. Just then, Galad Steelsworn appears, picking the large man off the ground and asking him to reconsider his course of action. The angry man stands down. Galad tells Pryn that he has a lead on [[Galad Steelsworn's Potential Ally|an ally]]. Pryn and Tanuryn depart with the 6 [[Gold]] they earned. In the evening, the group reunites at [[The Rusty Shield]]. Grub takes Pryn and Tanuryn to a [[Valikin's Landing Fighting Pit|Fighting Pit]]. There, they meet with [[The Ringmaster]] who offers them 30% of the pot for the fight. Pryn attempts to haggle and fails, and Grub assures her that it is a decent rate. The match is set, and they learn they will be facing [[Big Smiles]] and [[Knuckle Paddy]]. Pryn asks if they can use weapons, and the Ringmaster allows it, though spells and armor will be disallowed. The match begins! Pryn lets out a [[Kobold#Draconic Cry|Draconic Cry]] and attacks Big Smiles with her [[Songsword]]. Knuckle Pady attacks Pryn with his chain, trying and failing to trip her in the process. Tanuryn teams up with Pryn against Big Smiles, attacking him with his mace. Big Smiles attacks and knocks Pryn unconscious. She receives a [[Lingering Injury]]: a wound to her back. Knuckle Paddy attacks and misses Tanuryn. Meanwhile, medics do not seem to be in any hurry to come help Pryn. Tanuryn knocks Big Smiles unconscious! Knuckle Paddy misses his next attack against Tanuryn. Tanuryn takes the time to stabilize Pryn, ensuring she does not die. Knuckle Paddy and Tanuryn trade blows until Tanuryn eventually emerges victorious, earning the group 15 [[Gold]]! Pryn, Tanuryn, and Grub return to The Rusty Shield and Dalas lectures "Grub" about keeping their honored friends safe. Eventually, the group finds rest, having amassed around 50 Gold. ## [[Highharvestide 1488]], [[Valikin's Landing]] Prynazalya wakes first and leaves [[The Rusty Shield]], traveling along the nearby [[Brusevan River]]. As she walks along the river, she notices it turning a blood red color, accompanied by smoke in the sky to the north. She can only surmise that there is some battle along [[The Northern River Feeding into Brusevan River]] or further along [[Brusevan River]], causing the river to run red. Pryn rushes back to the tavern and alerts everyone, and they decide to leave immediately through whatever means possible. "Grub" prepares the cart while Dalas, Rinda, Tanuryn, and Ovranzo scramble to pack their things. As they depart, they find what seems to be everyone in the city rushing to the docks, desperate to escape. Fire rages at the gates. As the group rushes to the docks they find the entirety of the city struggling to find a boat with free space. [[Cormoran Damnstein]] calls out to them, inviting them aboard [[Cormoran Damnstein's Ship|His Ship]]! They hurry to board as [[Trebuchet]] shots fly overhead, sinking a nearby ship in the harbor. Damnstein explains that he was waiting for [[Cormoran Damnstein's Friend|His Friend]] who never showed up, and has plenty of room. As they push through the crowd to approach the ship a [[Copper Dragon]], [[Balsorym|King Balsorym]] flies overhead, breathing acid down on [[Urgan's Army]]! [[Goblin]] forces rush through into the docks, attacking those still on the shore. A [[Goblin Boss on a Worg]] attacks [[Cormoran Damnstein]] and misses before commanding his troops forward to attack. Pryn casts [[Guiding Bolt]] on the Goblin Boss and gives [[Tanuryn]] a [[Bardic Inspiration]]! [[Galad Steelsworn|Sir Galad Steelsworn]] arrives to join the battle! He easily dispatches a Goblin. Damnstein attacks the Worg and Ovranzo attacks the Goblin Boss with a [[Firecracker]]. An imposing [[Orc]] with a pauldron of dragon bone, blood red eyes, a Worg fur cloak and a mighty axe emerges on the battlefield, the skull of one of his victims in hand: [[Urgan, Doombringer]] is here. With a swing of his axe he emits a cone of blood red energy, instantly killing three nearby members of the [[City Guards of Valikin's Landing]], absorbing their souls into the axe. The party is overcome with [[Frightened|Fear]]. Tanuryn falls to the ground and crawls away. The Goblin Boss takes shots at Pryn and Tanuryn from afar. Dalas runs to the mooring, cutting the boat free before running aboard himself. The Goblin Boss's Worg bites at Damnstein but is unable to harm him. Pryn flees aboard the boat. Galad approaches Urgan: his own aura combating the aura of death surrounding the Orc Warlord. he draws a [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|Crystaline Shield]]. He casts [[Protection from Evil and Good]] on himself. Damnstein kills a Goblin minion before fleeing towards the ship. Ovranzo lets off one last Firecracker, killing the Goblin Boss. Urgan meets Galad and combat and swings his [[The Soul Axe|Soul Axe]]. The Axe at first seems to stop in mid air, held back by Galad's spell, before cutting through, where it finds purchase against Galad's crystal shield, though that too does not stop the axe, which effortlessly cuts the shield and each into Galad in two pieces with a single swing. Dalas begins cutting the sails free as Damnstein takes the helm. Pryn uses [[Mage Hand]] to grab Galad's Crystal Shield. In his final moment before his life leaves him, he offers the shield up to her. Pryn's Mage Hand returns to her as the ship leaves the shore, and Urgan turns away to claim the lives of easier prey. As the party goes further out to see, they watch Valikin's Landing burn. Dalas is shell shocked, and says and does little. Prynazalya, Tanuryn and Ovranzo mourn their home, certain that nobody is left to save after seeing Urgan's ruthless display. Prynazalya holds what remains of the shield close to her, and through some psionic connection learns it's name: [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|"Heart of Stone"]]. Cormoran explains their situation: without a [[Moon Crest]] they cannot safely or easily cross [[The Deep]] to Krashaprovos, however he is aware of a port on the southern continent of [[Xoctl]] where they may be safe: [[Haven's Breach]]. With no other options, the group sets out on their [[Dalas and Pryn's Journey to Haven's Breach|Journey to Haven's Breach]].
