## [[A Week in the Life of Dalas Greybark]]
[[Dalas Greybark]] and [[Gresha Redmud]] meet at the [[Land-Trade Inc. Headquarters]] in [[Squall's End]], where Gresha, a foul mouthed woman, gives Dalas his meager pay and the details of his next job: a delivery to [[Indigo Valley (Town)|Indigo Valley]], roughly one week north, for [[The Alavastian Army]].
Dalas accepts the job and takes his pay, and then heads to [[The Diprosopus Goat]], the local tavern, after spending some time away doing deliveries. Inside, he is greeted by the bartender [[Rinda]], who pours him a hot mug of [[Hard Cider]]. At the bar sits [[Grub|"Grub"]], a [[Dwarf]] of few words and one of Dalas' few friends.
The three discuss the hard times befalling [[The Alavastian Empire]] in the face of the [[The Conquest of Urgan, Doombringer]] and Dalas' work. As the tavern winds down for the night, Dalas plays a few games of cards, but doesn't win anything. Before heading home, Dalas takes a walk about [[Squall's End]], stopping in at the local [[Squall's End Smithy|Smithy]] and picking up a few beat up nails, in case his cart is in need of repairs during his upcoming journey. He heads home to his tiny cottage and rests.
In the morning, he goes over the manifest for the goods he is transporting with [[Gresha Redmud|Gresha]], gives the cart and his mules a once-over, and departs.
During his journey, he has a run in with a [[Drunken Man]] who insists Dalas owes him money. Before things can get violent, [[Cormoran Damnstein]], a retired [[Mercenary]] and an acquaintance of Dalas intervenes, cautioning Dalas to stay safe. Later on, Dalas has a tense run-in with a group of [[Bandit|Bandits]] on the road, but he does not stop for them and is able to outrun them and escape without harm.
After eleven days of travel, Dalas arrives in [[Indigo Valley (Town)|Indigo Valley]] and drops his goods off at the [[Alavastian Army Fort in Indigo Valley|Army Fort]], even going so far as to help unload the supplies himself.
Afterwards, he heads into [[The Beargrass Inn]] for a meal before getting back on the road.

## [[5 Eleint 1488]], [[Squall's End]]
[[Dalas Greybark]] and [[Gresha Redmud]] sit in the humble [[Land-Trade Inc. Headquarters]] in [[Squall's End]]. Gresha give Dalas his pay for a recent delivery he did: 1 [[Gold (Material)|Gold]] and 8 [[Silver]]: two Silver short from his normal pay. Dalas accepts the lesser pay as Gresha complains and spews profanities, telling Dalas about his next assignment: a cargo delivery to an [[Alavastian Army Fort in Indigo Valley]]. The Army is offering only half the usual wage for such a job, which Gresha bemoans.
Dalas agrees to take on the delivery the following day and departs.
Outside, he sees [[Armin]], the young stablehand who is struggling to move bales of hay.
Dalas stops to help the boy, helping him to work smarter and not harder. Dalas asks him the date, having lost track of days, and the kid replies that it is [[5 Eleint 1488]].
Free for the evening, Dalas heads to the local [[Tavern]], [[The Diprosopus Goat]], or "The Goat", as it is called by many of the locals who do not care to try to pronounce "Diprosopus". As he enters [[Rinda]] the proprietor pours him a warm [[Hard Cider]]. His friend [[Grub|"Grub"]], a dwarf of few words, sits at the bar and enjoys his ale.
The three (mainly Dalas and Rinda) discuss the hard times befalling the empire, the difficulty [[Balsorym]] is having in the war, and Dalas' upcoming trip to Indigo Valley.
As things wind down for the evening, Dalas plays a few low stakes games of cards, losing two [[Copper]] in the process. He discusses the state of [[The Lacodian Frontier]] with a [[Friendly Regular at the Goat|Friendly Regular]], who says that [[Respite]] is being sieged and at least [[Riven Wharf]] has already fallen. Dalas does his best to hide the true extent of his sorrow.
Before heading home, Dalas fixes one of Rinda's wobbly tables as best he can.
Dalas goes for a walk about town, visiting the [[Squall's End Smithy]]. Dalas looks at some broken swords, reminiscing about working at his [[Greybark Steel|Family's Business]] in his youth. He picks out a few secondhand nails incase he needs to repair his cart and makes small talk with the [[Squall's End Blacksmith|Local Blacksmith]].
Dalas heads [[Dalas' House|home]] to rest. His home is the guest house of a [[Dalas' Landlady|Old Dwarven Woman]] that he barely fits in. It has a fireplace, a bed, a chair, a table, and a shelf with some of his history books on it.
## [[6 Eleint 1488]], [[Squall's End]]
[[Menace]], the local [[Chicken|Rooster]] crows at the crack of dawn. Dalas wakes up, makes some breakfast, and immediately gets to work preparing his trip into Indigo Valley.
Dalas feeds his [[Mule|Mules]], [[Miece]] and [[Flame Emperor]], ensures [[Dalas Greybark's Cart|His Cart]] is in good working order, and takes inventory of the goods he is to deliver with [[Gresha Redmud]], who gives him his own copy of the manifest. His journey is expected to take 10 or 11 days.
Dalas departs along [[The Northern Route heading out of Squall's End]]. The road is bumpy. As he travels, Dalas wonders about his home, [[Respite]] and feels some sense of longing for his old life there, as well as worry for it's current state faced with [[Urgan's Army]].
He passes by a [[Cattle Ranch]] and observes several young ranch hands having a good time while working in the field, and then continues on his way.

Dalas attempts to excuse himself to avoid any conflict, but the drunken man persists. Eventually, [[Cormoran Damnstein]], a grizzled old [[Mercenary]] and an acquaintance of Dalas steps in to intervene.
The two discuss the [[Damnstein's Old Wooden Shield|Old Wooden Shield]] and set of [[Damnstein's Rusty Old Ringmail|Rusty Old Ringmail]] that Mr. Damnstein had gifted Dalas in the past. Damnstein tells Dalas that it is dangerous out on the roads and asks him to stay safe. Dalas thanks him and departs.

Dalas arrives in [[Indigo Valley (Town)|Indigo Valley]] and enters the queue of carts heading to [[Alavastian Army Fort in Indigo Valley]]. When his turn comes, he gives his manifest to [[Anton|Captain Anton]], who directs him to the nearby warehouse where his cart will be unloaded. Anton gives him instructions on where to leaves his mules so that they can be fed and tells Dalas that he can claim a free meal at the local [[The Beargrass Inn|Bear Grass Inn]], though room and board will be on his own dime if he chooses to spend the night.
Dalas proceeds, and even helps the workers unload his cart, before heading into [[The Beargrass Inn]].
Unbeknownst to Dalas, these are the final moments before [[The Burning of Indigo Valley]] begins.
