# Summary
## [[The Intertwining of Fates]]
Following an [[The Mischief of Jallipop|Eventful New Years Eve]], Big Inky and Amalie set out to recruit for their mission to aid [[Prince Levi Ovlorn|Prince Ovlorn]] of [[Vela|The Sea People]]. Amalie visits the [[Havlov Mercenary Group Headquarters - Haven's Breach|Havlov Mercenary Group Headquarters]] and requests their aid. They offer a scouting party to meet with Prince Ovlorn, but cannot offer more forces without negotiating price. Meanwhile, Big Inky recruits from the adventurers that had fought Jallipop the night before, starting with his fellow [[Grippli]] Yeepo and the [[Crystal Dragon]] Prynazalya.
Pryn, Big Inky, and Amalie accompany Yeepo on his visit to [[Archaeology Guild - Haven's Breach Chapter|The Archaeology Guild Headquarters]] where they meet Ag, Asher, and [[Professor Thalen Alvanec]]. Yeepo shares what he learned of [[Precursor Temple|The Temple]], [[The Door]] and the massive underground "cart" that transported him across the continent at incredible speeds, all of which he discovered during [[The Discovery of the Last Precursor|His Previous Adventures]]. Thalen is ecstatic: [[The Archaeology Guild]] has been searching for the door for some time. Thalen explains that there are [[The Three Gems of the Door|Three Gems]] that unlock the door. Thalen shares a rough translation stating that [[1st Gem of The Door|one gem]] is said to be somewhere "dark" under "massive pressure" and offers [[Gold]] in exchange for further information on the Precursors, but has little to offer in the way of leads.
Pryn suggests they visit Dalas, her friend who is quite knowledgeable about carts, and the party goes to meet with Dalas, who is playing [[Horseshoes]] on the beach with his friend [[Grub|"Grub"]]. Dalas is not sure what to make of Yeepo's story, but treats the group to a meal of fish and beef jerky as they share their stories. The group seems to rally around Big Inky's quest to aid Prince Ovlorn and even invites Dalas along, but he refuses, insisting that he is no fighter, suggesting they recruit Pryn's ally Tanuryn instead.
As the group departs to recruit Tanuryn, "Grub" scolds Dalas, telling him he's running out of opportunities to do good in the world, and that even after all his running away, he still might die soon anyway. He insists that the group needs Dalas, and Dalas admits his friend is probably right.
Meanwhile, Tanuryn immediately agrees to help. The group makes a plan to depart in two days time and disperses to prepare. Pryn and Tanuryn visit their friend Ovranzo at [[The Haven's Breach Forge]] where they find that Ovranzo has found a second home amongst the smiths. They leave their equipment with their friend who promises to repair and enhance it before their adventure.
Asher goes to find Dalas, who is drinking at [[Bottled Sand]], and tries to convince him again to join the group, wagering on a simple coin flip. Asher cheats using his invisible familiars and is caught by Dalas who scolds him for trying to mislead him and storms off, eventually finding himself in the wilderness just outside of town. He ruminates in his thoughts there, eventually recalling a [[Training With Rilan|Memory]] of his comrade from many years ago [[Rilan Forgeflame]], a young squire who felt the weight of the world on his shoulders and channeled his anger into strength.
Big Inky visits [[The Turtle's Claw]] with Rilker and Pauma where he quickly comes to blows with [[Gray]], a [[Gata]] swashbuckler, who he befriends just as quickly. After enjoying a drink, Big Inky sets out in look for work, a small bounty to earn some gold before he departs Haven's Breach, eventually finding a Wanted poster outside Bottled Sand. Inside, he speaks to [[Akreas]], who offers him a more lucrative bounty hunting a shapeshifting spy for [[Urgan's Army]]. Big Inky accepts, and Akreas asks him to return later when he has gathered more information on the target.
While passing the time, Big Inky and Pryn visit [[Gardens of Eve]] where they meet the eclectic [[Eve]]. Pryn purchases [[Pryn's Salt Lamp|A Salt Lamp]] and Big Inky picks up some [[Flora]] native to Xoctl with unique properties. Afterwards, Pryn accompanies Big Inky back to Bottled Sand, where he receives a description of the last form the shapeshifter took: a perfect match for Dalas Greybark. The two depart with haste to find Dalas.
Ag visits [[Fig and Mulberry]] where he goes into debt to [[Kashorn Longbrook]] for a [[Spell Scroll of Misty Step]]. Ag guilts Kashorn into giving him the supplies to copy the spell into his spellbook and leads Kashorn to believe he will use the spell to do crime in order to pay him back. Moments later, Ag runs into Asher, who delivers Ag's share of gold from treasure they had found together in their [[Prologue of Asher Yurei, Yeepo and the Shark of Luma|Recent Adventure]]. Ag immediately [[Misty Step|Misty Steps]] back into Kashorn's shop, settles his debt, and leaves again. The chaotic exchange leaves Kashorn frazzled as he insists he will never allow Ag to go in debt to him again.
Dalas visits Rinda at [[Oneroad]] and drinks and vents about his life: the humiliation he suffered the night before, being invited along on the adventure, Asher's antics, his memory of Rilan, his fears of letting down Prynazalya. Rinda reassures Dalas that he has good qualities for an adventurer, and points out that *not* going on the adventure would definitely let Pryn down. Ultimately, Rinda encourages Dalas to make a decision *he* is happy with. Dalas admits he wants to do something he can be proud of for once, and resolves himself to adventure once again.
Yeepo visits the [[Monster Hunter's Guild Hall]] where he takes on a fight with a giant [[Dark Canopy Moth]]. The match quickly goes very wrong as hatchlings emerge from the moth's back and break free the rope-cage holding them within the arena. Yeepo [[Hook Sling|Hook Slings]] himself onto the giant moth's back as it soars out of the arena over the city, eventually arriving at [[Bellevan Square]] where the rest of the party has converged, having observed the commotion. Prynazalya is nearly killed in the fighting, falling unconscious in midair after a vicious attack from the moth, only to be caught by Big Inky. Even a drunken Dalas gathers the courage to join in the fight. Though the situation appears dire, backup in the form of allies Tanuryn, Rilker, and Pauma arrive, with Tanuryn delivering the finishing blow to the moth.
In the aftermath of the battle, Pryn notices that Tanuryn has his equipment again, even though he left it with Ovranzo just a little while ago. Tanuryn explains that Ovranzo did not have time to work on his stuff after all. Meanwhile, Asher apologizes to Dalas for his trick earlier, and Dalas accepts his apology. Pryn tells Asher about [[The Fall of Valikin's Landing]], but Asher seems optimistic that there is some way to return those who have fallen to life.
Big Inky demands Dalas take him to [[Masonry Guild Headquarters - Haven's Breach|The Masonry Guild Headquarters]], hoping to find the spy in their midst but divulges little of his mission to Dalas. Dalas agrees and takes him there, but there is no trace of a spy. Big Inky recalls a discrepancy in Pryn's conversation with Tanuryn earlier and fears grow that the spy has impersonated Tanuryn. The group heads to [[The Haven's Breach Forge]] and confirms that the spy is impersonating Tanuryn upon questioning Ovranzo.
The group makes haste to Tanuryn's tent where they find him bound and gagged. Upon freeing him he accuses Dalas of kidnapping him. The situation is quickly cleared up and rocks are distributed to each member of the group, a hidden badge of membership, one caught without a secret rock would be revealed to be the spy.
The group goes about town verifying the identity of their allies and distributing rocks to their allies, ending with Asher. Upon hearing of the shapeshifter Asher sprints off on his own to find the spy. Asher eventually ends up at [[Barnacles]] where he offers the patrons ten Gold for information, inciting a riot as the already rowdy bar erupts in false claims of having information. Amongst the chaos Asher spots one person riling up the crowd, and subtly changing forms as they do. Asher follows the figure into the cellar where he comes face to face with his friend, [[Zarek Duskwraith]]. Or at least an illusion of him, one that distracts Asher long enough for the spy to knock him unconscious.
Meanwhile, the group figures out how they will find the shapeshifter, eventually settling on trying to borrow a [[Moon Crest]] from one of the deep-voyaging ships in hope that it's [[Lunara]]-blessed magic would be sufficient to reveal the shapeshifter. The group returns to [[The Turtle's Claw]] where Big Inky's swashbuckler friend quickly agrees in exchange for the crest's swift return and a good story. With the Moon Crest in hand the *group* heads north to seek out Asher.
Asher awakens finding himself bound to the chair and being interrogated by the shapeshifter, disguised as his friend [[Valentina Dawncrest]]. The shapeshifter demands to know about Asher's companions, but Asher flirts instead of answering the questions. Eventually, the shapeshifter grows frustrated, reveals it's true form as a [[Doppelganger]] and slams Asher to the ground, knocking him unconscious just as the rest of the party arrives, having found Asher's location after questioning the folks in the tavern.
Combat unfolds as the Doppelganger insists he will exudes an aura of murky darkness, terrifying the adventurers and preventing them from approaching. The frightened party attacks from afar as Asher nears death on the ground. Pryn casts [[Detect Thoughts]] to learn of the Doppelganger's motives, learning that he was hired by Big Inky's sister, [[B'Inky]] on behalf of [[Urgan's Army]] to seek out and eliminate beings of mythical importance, such as Prynazalya, before they could become threats to Urgan. In a terrified frenzy Dalas manages to defeat the doppelganger, who is promptly killed by Big Inky upon learning of his sister's involvement.
The party returns to Bottled Sand with the corpse of the doppelganger and collects the bounty. Big Inky asks if there is more work, and Akreas alludes to a [[The Society of Doors|Greater Society]] of people resisting Urgan that he is a part of that may offer more work in the future.
Suffering from multiple [[Lingering Injury|Lingering Injuries]], the party chooses to delay their departure on their [[Journey to Laverasala|Journey to Laverasala]] and begins a 10-Day period of [[Post-Intertwining of Fates Downtime|Downtime]].
# Adventure Log
## [[1 Hammer 1489]], [[Haven's Breach]]
Another hot, humid day in Haven's Breach. [[The Shark of Luma|Ag]] wakes up early and returns to [[South Harbor]] and ponders the previous night's events. He feels calm by the water. He begins thinking of a way to return to [[The Vindilaworth School of Wizardry]], which he attended in the past before being accidentally teleported to [[Haven's Breach]].
He receives a [[Sending]] from [[Nicholas Graeme|Professor Nicholas Graeme]]. The Professor explains that he knows that Ag is missing following the teleportation accident, but urges Ag not to return to the school. The school is currently floating high above [[Lacodia]] to avoid being attacked by [[Urgan's Army]].
Ag responds asking how [[Finley Tedric|Finley]] is doing, but does not receive a response. ([[Arcana]]) Ag knows that levitating the school indefinitely is an incredible working of magic that is probably taking a majority of the faculty's energy.
Ag sits on the docks by [[The Cove]] and wonders what to do next.
---
[[Asher Yurei|Asher]] sleeps in until about 11 before going to find Ag to help him [[Identify]] artifacts they found during [[Prologue of Asher Yurei, Yeepo and the Shark of Luma]]. [[Zarek Duskwraith|Zarek]] and [[Valentina Dawncrest|Valentina]] are already gone, presumably to [[Archaeology Guild - Haven's Breach Chapter]].
---
[[Yeepo]] wakes up early, works out, and then goes to find food.
He ends up at [[Oneroad]] where he meets [[Rinda]]. Rinda and Yeepo chat for a while. Rinda explains [[The Burning of Indigo Valley]], [[The Fall of Valikin's Landing]], and [[Dalas and Pryn's Journey to Haven's Breach|Her Journey to Haven's Breach]]. She asks Yeepo's story, and he poorly explains [[The Discovery of the Last Precursor]] and [[Prologue of Asher Yurei, Yeepo and the Shark of Luma]].
Rinda asks Yeepo if it's scary being so far from home, but he says that he wanted to adventure anyway. Rinda thinks she should be more like Yeepo.
Yeepo eventually leaves to go find the [[Archaeology Guild - Haven's Breach Chapter|"Shamans"]] to discuss [[The Door]].
---
[[Big Inky]] searches for [[Yeepo]], eventually finding him in [[Bellevan Square]].
[[Big Inky]] calls out to him in [[Gripptronik]], the language of the [[Grippli]]. They introduce themselves and Big Inky proposes they team up to help in Big Inky's quest to aid [[Prince Levi Ovlorn|Prince Ovlorn]] of [[Vevososova]]. Upon learning that fighting is involved, Yeepo agrees immediately.
Yeepo suggests that Big Inky try to recruit [[Asher Yurei|Asher]] and [[The Shark of Luma|Ag]] as well, and they wander off in search of them.
---
[[Prynazalya]] awakens before dawn, going through her normal training routine in [[Bellevan Square]]. Eventually, Pryn runs into [[Big Inky]] and [[Yeepo]], recognizing them from the previous night.
In broken [[Common]], they ask Pryn to join them on their quest. Pryn asks them to become her followers and help her on her quest to reclaim [[Nylavorna]], but they refuse and begin walking away.
Bewildered about why anyone would refuse to follow a mighty [[True Dragon|Dragon]], Pryn chases after them to continue the conversation.
---
[[Amalie Adin|Amalie]] didn't really sleep at all. Elves can simply meditate. She is spaced out, waiting for the [[Havlov Mercenary Group Headquarters - Haven's Breach|Havlov Mercenary Group Headquarters]] to open.
Eventually, a [[Aphra Lurez|Human Woman]] arrives with a mug of coffee in hand. Amalie offers her a cigarette, which she accepts. Amalie asks for some food, and the woman agrees. They go inside.
Amalie delivers a request for aid from [[Prince Levi Ovlorn|Prince Ovlorn]], stating that [[Laverasala]] has fallen and that [[King Levan Ovlorn|King Ovlorn]] has turned into a monster, and that [[Balevon Lake]] is cursed. The woman explains that they lost contact with [[Vela|The Sea People]] recently and that this would explain it. The woman plans to relay the message to [[Havlov Guildmaster|The Guild Master]], but they will likely plan to send out a scouting party, which will need to be led by Amalie, who knows the route, to determine the situation, but ultimately she says that Havlov will not help for free.
The woman mentions that in the past they have traded extremely valuable items with the Sea People. She mentions a rumor of a [[Fountain of Life|Magical Fountain]] they heard from the Sea People, but doesn't seem to believe it.
The woman offers Amalie a job, but Amalie refuses, saying she is focused on this job for the time being. She says the Guild Master will be in by mid-day and to come back then. The woman introduces herself as Aphra Lurez and Amalie departs.
Amalie heads over to the [[Enchanter's Guild - Haven's Breach Chapter|Enchanter's Guild]] where she runs into Big Inky, Yeepo, and Pryn. Amalie sneaks up on them, mainly curious about the little [[Crystal Dragon]], Pryn. She taps Pryn on the shoulder and then just stares.
Big Inky and Amalie get up to speed on their various findings.
Yeepo is confused as to whether or not Pryn is a [[Shaman]] (Spellcaster) or [[Hunter (Profession)|Hunter]] (Martial), but Pryn insists she is simply Dragon, though that means little to Yeepo and Big Inky who have never interacted with a Dragon before.
They discuss [[Spider|Spiders]], and how they don't have a language because they're bugs.
Pryn asks if they eat rocks. Yeepo has not, but Big Inky has. They agree that the rocks from home taste best.
Eventually, they decided to stop by [[The Archaeology Guild]], as Yeepo thinks that there are powerful shamans there.
---
[[Dalas Greybark]], humiliated and ashamed of his cowardice from the previous night, hides in his tent all day, until he eventually leaves to meet up with [[Grub|"Grub"]] to smoke some [[Beef Jerky]] and play [[Horseshoes]] over by [[Barnacles]].
Dalas refuses to discuss his humiliation from the prior night. The two have a terse conversation about how crazy someone would have to be to be an adventurer, how it is much more sensible to just work an average life, and whether or not Dalas has been by [[The Order of the Green Blades - Haven's Breach Headquarters]], as Grub knows of Dalas' fondness for the order.
Dalas tells Grub that he heard the [[Grippli]] language was called [[Gripptronik]], and the two share a hearty laugh.
---
[[Asher Yurei|Asher]] sends [[Ayula (Familiar)|Bear]] to go find [[The Shark of Luma|Ag]]. The [[Familiar]] is eventually successful. At first Ag is shocked and confused, having never seen the Familiar before, but eventually gets the idea and follows Bear back to meet up with Asher.
Meanwhile, Asher bumbles his way through the [[Arcane Research Quarter]], accidentally ruining a [[Wizard]]'s spell and earning his ire before trying to convince the Wizard to [[Identify]] his items. Ag arrives and offers to identify the items, and Asher is somehow shocked to learn that Ag is a Wizard.
Ag takes a few minutes to ritually cast Identify and learns that the items are a [[Periapt of Health]] and a [[Rod of the Pact Keeper, +1]]. Asher munches on a bag of [[Potato Chips]] while he waits.
Ag keeps the periapt for himself and leaves the rod for Asher.
Left aimless after being transported to Haven's Breach and told not to return, Ag asks Asher what his goals are. Asher replies that his goal is "to have fun with my friends". They go to find [[Valentina Dawncrest|Val]], [[Zarek Duskwraith|Zarek]], or [[Yeepo]].
Before they leave, Asher remembers that he has [[Ruby Dust|Red Dust]] and barters with a merchant to sell it. He sends [[Bud]], his invisible Familiar over, to literally tip the scales in his favor, and ends up making 285 [[Gold]].
Asher sends Bear to go find his friends, and Bear eventually finds them in [[Archaeology Guild - Haven's Breach Chapter]], returning without them, because they looked busy. Ag is mad that he didn't look busy and was dragged all the way over here.
---
By chance, [[Asher Yurei|Asher]], [[The Shark of Luma|Ag]], [[Big Inky]], [[Amalie Adin|Amalie]], [[Yeepo]], and [[Prynazalya]] end up in the central tent of the Archaeology Guild at the same time.
[[Professor Thalen Alvanec]], in the midst of laying out an expansive rune sequence, greets them. Yeepo tells him about [[The Door]], the [[The Last Precursor|The Precursor]] who said to put the [[The Three Gems of the Door|Three missing gems]] in the door.
Thalen calls out to [[Morrow]] to bring him a scroll. He lays the scroll out, showing a depiction of The Door with the sockets filled, and asks Yeepo if it is the same door. Yeepo confirms that it is.
Thalen is overjoyed, and explains that this door is what the Archaeology Guild is here on Xoctl looking for. He orders everyone to drop everything in order to focus on this.
The [[Archaeologist|Archaeologists]] bring out scrolls containing depictions of the three gems that seem to unlock The Door. The drawings are accompanied by inscriptions written in [[The Precursor Language]], which the Archaeologists have barely begun to translate. Their current working theories are that [[The Precursors]] were at war with [[Demon|Demons]], or maybe that they worshipped Demons, though nobody understand why they would worship beings of pure chaos and destruction.
Thalen asks the party to help him find the gems and open The Door, offering massive riches to the group if they can help him.
Most of the group, save for [[Big Inky]], who has no need for riches, is happy to help, but nobody, including
the Archaeologists, knows where to begin. Thalen explains that in [[Archaeology]], one find often points to something else, then something else, so almost anywhere could be a starting point.
Yeepo suggests, picking a direction at random, that the party then should look east. Thalen points out that [[The Deep]] is to the east, and it's unlikely they will find anything in it's waters. Their best lead is a partially translated text that [[1st Gem of The Door|one gem]] is somewhere under "massive pressure" in a "dark place" where few can go, though Thalen admits they may have made a mistake in the translation. Thalen reiterates that anything new, be it one of the gems, writings, or other precursor artifacts, will be met with a monetary reward.
Yeepo shows Thalen the [[Precursor Blue Tube]], which Thalen says seems bio-mechanical in nature. Yeepo explains his [[The Discovery of the Last Precursor|journey]] from the [[Precursor Temple]] near [[Yntiyope Village]] to [[Precursor Door Temple|The Other Precursor Temple]] where he met [[The Shark of Luma|Ag]] and [[Asher Yurei|Asher]]. Thalen explains that Yeepo must have traveled hundreds of miles in a matter of days in order to do this, shocked at the speed. Yeepo tries to describe the underground train system as best he can, and Pryn casts [[Summon Vehicle]] to try and recreate the vehicle, breaking Thalen's desk in the process.
The professor is quickly overwhelmed and kicks the group out. In the end, Big Inky is disappointed that there are no actual [[Shaman|Shamans]] here.
Pryn lets Yeepo ride in the cart for a while, before she mentions that they should go find her [[Dalas Greybark|friend]] to tell him about it.
---
The group heads to [[Oneroad]] and talks to [[Rinda]], who mentions she saw [[Grub|"Grub"]] heading towards [[North Harbor]] earlier to meet up with Dalas. The group heads towards [[Barnacles]] and eventually finds "Grub" and Dalas playing horseshoes on the beach while their jerky smokes on the fire nearby.
Everyone introduces themselves, and Yeepo explains the cart they saw to Dalas. Dalas is impressed, but confused given the lack of context. Yeepo gives horseshoes a try and does quite well. They go on to discuss Jallipop's attack the night before. Dalas and "Grub" share their jerky and eventually go fishing and cook the fish to feed their guests. Ag nibbles on his jerky, but it's eventually stolen by Big Inky.
Yeepo and Big Inky discuss in [[Gripptronik]] whether or not to recruit Dalas to their cause. Big Inky does not want a coward around, but Yeepo would like to have someone who can cook well, and Big Inky agrees.
Dalas asks Yeepo about his adventures and aspirations, and Yeepo explains that he is one of the first adventurers to leave his home in some time, and that he wants to become [[Chief]] some day. His current goal is to open [[The Door]].
Yeepo asks Dalas about his goals, and Dalas avoids the question by explaining his work at the [[Masonry Guild Headquarters - Haven's Breach|Masonry Guild]]. The group presses Dalas about whether or not he really wants to be doing that.
Ag gives horseshoes a try and does ok.
Big Inky shares his quest again, a request from [[Prince Levi Ovlorn|Prince Ovlorn]] to gather forces to free his father, [[King Levan Ovlorn|King Ovlorn]] from some curse. The Prince is offering 2,400 [[Gold]] to those who would help, though Big Inky is doing this to earn a favor from the prince. Dalas remarks that it is a noble quest.
Pryn, Yeepo, and Ag try to recruit Dalas to the group, but Dalas refuses, saying he is not a fighter. The group presses Dalas, and he says that he will consider it before bringing up recruiting [[Tanuryn]], and eventually the group relents and goes to find the Kobold warrior.
Pryn recalls that "Grub" is a decent fighter as well, and asks him to join. He flatly refuses.
----
After the group leaves, Dalas and "Grub" go about cleaning up their [[Cook's Utensils]]. "Grub" lectures Dalas, saying that they've been running and running and running and some day soon Dalas may die anyway without having ever tried to fix anything. "Grub" tells Dalas that the other adventurers need someone with common sense to watch after them, and that Dalas is that person.
Dalas relents, saying that "Grub" is probably right: "Grub" only ever speaks when he's sure he's right, after all.
"Grub" tells Dalas to clean up, and they clean their tools in silence.
Eventually, Dalas and "Grub" part ways and Dalas goes to [[Bottled Sand]] to drink.
---
Pryn, Ag, Asher, Yeepo, and Big Inky catch up with [[Tanuryn]] in [[Bellevan Square]]. Pryn asks Tanuryn to join them on their adventure and Tanuryn immediately accepts. They discuss when they will be leaving, and Big Inky says they will leave in two days, and the group disperses and sets about preparing.
---
Asher leaves to go find Dalas and to try to convince him to join the group. He eventually finds Dalas at Bottled Sand.
Inside, Asher orders two glasses of [[Teal Drink]] from [[Akreas]]. Akreas asks Asher if he is sure he wants to order such a refined drink.
Asher is certain. Akreas brings a mini-keg of Teal Drink out and pours two glasses.
Asher brings the drinks over to Dalas table. Asher takes a drink and calls it "good shit", but Dalas isn't so sure.
Asher asks Dalas to join again, insisting it's what his friends want. Dalas questions Asher's motives, but he insists that he is just trying to do right by his friends.
Dalas reiterates that he will think about it. Asher challenges Dalas to a coinflip: if Dalas calls it, he stays, if not, he'll go with them. Dalas humors Asher.
Asher flips the coin, but sends [[Bud]] to distract Dalas, biting his leg, and [[Ayula (Familiar)|Ayula]] to catch the coin so that Asher can use [[Sleight of Hand]] to reveal the coin as he chooses.
Dalas doesn't catch the sleight of hand, but notices Bud trying to attack him as the familiar's invisibility was broken when it attempted to attack.
Dalas shouts and kicks Bud away, causing the Familiar to fizzle away.
Dalas yells at Asher for trying to trick him, saying that's no way to treat someone who you're going to adventure with. Asher denies any association with Bud, and Dalas storms out of the bar.
Asher sends his other familiar to follow after Dalas.
---
Big Inky leaves to drink at [[The Turtle's Claw]] with [[Rilker Gelesar|Rilker]] and [[Pauma]]. The sailors inside stop what they are doing for a moment and watch the mercenary and his companions enter. Sailors, while rowdy, usually hate mercenaries, who are even rowdier.
Big Inky orders a bucket of [[Beer|Ale]]. A [[Gray]] shoulder checks Big Inky. Big Inky calls him a "Cat Boy" and the two get into a bar brawl as the rest of the patrons scramble out of the way.
The two tussle for a while before Big Inky admits to the Gata that he is strong. The two become fast friends, and Big Inky orders two buckets of ale for them. They have another competition chugging ale, which the Gata narrowly wins. They discuss Big Inky's quest and swap stories about their scars. The Gata got his fighting a [[Kraken]].
The two get drunk(-er) and arm wrestle.
*Big Inky gains +1 reputation with the swashbucklers of Haven's Breach.*
---
Pryn and Tanuryn visit [[Ovranzo]] at [[The Haven's Breach Forge]]. Inside the forge, everything from nails, to weapons, to magic items is being worked on by the artisans of the city.
Ovranzo, now sporting more dwarven attire, has found a new home here, he is absolutely elated to be amongst other craftspeople. He greets Pryn and Tanuryn, and tells them how much he has learned. Pryn explains their new friends and their quest and invites Ovranzo along, but he declines: he is most useful here. He offers to maintain their gear, which he agrees to do.
Pryn leaves her [[Songsword|Songswords]] and Tanuryn leaves his [[Shield]] for Ovranzo to work on.
---
Ag stops by [[Fig and Mulberry]] to get some spell scrolls. Inside, they have several [[Spell Scroll|Spell Scrolls]] in stock, each of which is printed on a paper unique to Fig and Mulberry, made from ingredients native to [[Xoctl]].
[[Kashorn Longbrook]] greets Ag and the two share an awkward moment as Kashorn watches Ag browse.
Ag browses the scrolls:
- [[Spell Scroll of Absorb Elements]]
- [[Spell Scroll of Alarm]]
- [[Spell Scroll of Shield]]...
Eventually, Ag picks out a [[Spell Scroll of Misty Step]], but he can't afford it. He tries to guilt Kashorn into lowering the price, and the two eventually come to an agreement for Ag to pay 25 [[Gold]] today and to either pay Kashorn the other 75 later or to work off his debt at the shop at a later date.
Ag leaves with his new scroll and goes to study by the water, preparing for the adventure to come. He tries to copy the spell into [[The Shark of Luma's Spellbook|His Spellbook]] but finds he does not have the appropriate materials.
---
Yeepo visits [[Monster Hunter's Guild Hall (Haven's Breach)|The Monster Hunter's Guild]] to fight in their [[Monster Hunter Guild Arena|Arena]]. When he arrives, there is a fight already ongoing.
Yeepo talks with [[Thomas Thompson]], who offers him a fight with some kind of flying creature. Yeepo accepts.
Yeepo watches the remainder of the current fight and then chats with the [[Newbie Fighter]], a young man who got quite beat up during the match.
Yeepo's match is next, and the announcer hypes him up to the crowd. Yeepo walks out as the crowd chants his name: "Yeepo! Yeepo! Yeepo! Yeepo!"
Before the match begins, cannons fire off, sending ropes crisscrossing across the top of the arena, creating a cage so the flying beast cannot escape. A [[Dark Canopy Moth]] flies out, it's pincer four feet long, and charges Yeepo!
---
Dalas storms away from [[Bottled Sand]], not paying any real attention to where he is going, and ends up to the west, overlooking a cliff just outside of town. He ruminates on his exchange with Asher, with being invited along for the adventure, and the things "Grub" said. Eventually, his mind wanders, and he recalls a memory of his time as a [[Page]] in [[The Order of the Green Blades]]...
![[Training With Rilan#1457 AoM , Respite The City of Respite]]
Dalas is overwhelmed with bittersweet feelings, and reflects on Rilan's resolve and his own feelings of determination that he had long since lost.
Dalas eventually heads back into town.
---
Meanwhile, at [[Bottled Sand]], Asher finishes both glasses of [[Teal Drink]] and leaves. He feels let down by [[Bud]] after failing to trick Dalas, and goes back to his tent.
Asher begins attuning to his [[Rod of the Pact Keeper, +1]]. He focuses on the rod, which has a tantalizing power, similar to [[The Shadow Deck]], hoping that through it he can better understand [[The Ancient Magician]]. It feels right to Asher that he should be using the rod.
After a while, Asher is pulled out of his trance by [[Ayula (Familiar)|Ayula]], who has returned from spying on Dalas. . Ayula informs Asher that Dalas simply walked out of town, stood by a cliff (which she thought he was going to jump off of), and then eventually walked away.
Asher admits he feels bad for trying to trick Dalas, and the two argue about the semantics of whether or not what Asher did was cheating.
Asher opens a bag of chips, and Ayula steals one. Eventually, Asher leaves to go give Ag his share of the money from selling the [[Ruby Dust]].
---
Big Inky begins looking for [[Bounty Hunter|Bounty Hunting]] work, a contract he can quickly complete, to earn some coin as he waits for his new allies to prepare for the coming adventure.
He eventually ends up at [[Bottled Sand]], where he notices posted fliers naming and blaming patrons who had a debt to settle with the tavern. He heads inside and speaks to [[Akreas]] about one of the contracts.
Akreas instead offers Big Inky a higher paying bounty. The two walk into the cellar to discuss the matter.
Akreas asks Big Inky how long he has been bounty hunting, and Big Inky says "a long time", long enough that he doesn't exactly remember when.
Akreas guesses that Big Inky is from [[Gullsrog]], to which Big Inky replies "Smart Demon." Akreas says "Close enough."
Akreas pulls out a folder featuring the [[Door Emblem|symbol of a door with a rounded top]]. He asks if Big Inky is familiar with [[The Conquest of Urgan, Doombringer|The War]], and Big Inky replies there are many wars. Akreas mentions [[Urgan, Doombringer]] and his [[Urgan's Army|Army]]. Akreas explains that his army has [[Doppelganger Spy|a spy]] here in Haven's Breach, a [[Changeling]] who is disguised as a man from [[The Lacodian Frontier]]. Akreas offers Big Inky 200 [[Gold]] to kill the man.
Big Inky, secretly alarmed that Urgan's influence has reached here, agrees. Akreas tells Big Inky that he will do his best to track down the spy, and to return later.
Big Inky has his own plans for the spy.

Pryn returns to [[The Order of the Green Blades - Haven's Breach Headquarters]] where she is greeted by three [[Squire|Squires]]. They have no new information about [[Doran Iceblood|Sir Doran Iceblood]] and [[Caled Farplain]] who left Haven's Breach some time ago on a quest and have not returned. They say they are considering sending word to [[Respite]], and Pryn realizes that they do not know all that has happened in recent months in [[Lacodia]].
She explains that [[Respite]] and [[Valikin's Landing]] have both fallen to [[Urgan, Doombringer]]. The squires are in disbelief at first. Pryn tells them that she saw [[Galad Steelsworn|Sir Galad Steelsworn]] fall to Urgan herself, and the squires begin to panic, fearing that The Order has completely collapsed and they are the last.
The squires wonder who can lead them now, and Pryn insists that they are capable of leading themselves. The squires manage to pull themselves together, and begin speaking of carrying on the legacy of the order and rebuilding it.
Before Pryn leaves, they discuss the [[Chronicles of the Green Blades]] book series: the Green Blades of course, have the full set. Pryn mentions her [[Dalas Greybark|friend]] who loves the history of the Green Blades and says she will bring him by some time.
---
Dalas visits [[Oneroad]], where he orders more than a few mugs of the two drinks available at Oneroad and tells [[Rinda]] about his day: about being invited along on the adventure, about [[Grub|"Grub"]] scolding him, about Asher trying to trick him, and about his memory of [[Rilan Forgeflame|Rilan]].
Dalas tells Rinda that he is unsure what to do, and that he is terrified to go on the adventure and ultimately let down Pryn, who he thinks *actually* believes in him.
Rinda tells Dalas that *not* going will *definitely* let Pryn down and tells Dalas that she and Pryn both see Dalas as loyal and thoughtful and caring, making him a good traveling companion.
Ultimately, Rinda encourages to do what will make him happiest. Dalas says that he wants to do something he can be proud of for once, thanks Rinda, and departs, drunk.
---
Prynazalya and Big Inky visit [[Gardens of Eve]]. Inside they are greeted by the voice of a woman speaking to them through a [[Speaker-Like Plant]]. The woman seems distracted with some experiment, and calls out to the guests to catch the [[Mandrake]] that has escaped her.
A [[Sentient Mandrake]] runs down the stairs and begins toppling things over in the shop! Pryn, who has no idea what a mandrake is, simply browses the store in awe, while Big Inky snatches up the mandrake with his frog tongue.
[[Eve]] comes down the stairs, frazzled, and retrieves the mandrake from Big Inky. She asks how she can help her guests.
Pryn says she is here to get a [[Salt Lamp|Salt Lamp]]. Eve shows one to Pryn, who is transfixed by what she thinks is "the most perfect item". Pryn begins to lick it.
They discuss Pryn eating rocks and Big Inky's willingness to eat a poisonous [[Mandrake]]. Big Inky insists he cannot be poisoned. Eve becomes curious about Big Inky's abilities, but restrains herself from beginning to experiment.
Big Inky is shopping for some kind of herb or plant that can increase his defenses. Even begins going through the various plants that may help: [[Tintrelle]], [[Dragon's Tongue]] - which does in fact look like Pryn's tongue, since she is a [[True Dragon|Dragon]], [[Liferoot]]...
Eve seems to accept that Pryn is truly a dragon.
Pryn gets a [[Pryn's Salt Lamp|Salt Lamp]] and Big Inky gets [[Dragon's Tongue]] and [[Tintrelle]], as well as some [[Perfume]], and the duo departs.
---
Ag, frustrated that he cannot copy his spell scroll into his spellbook, returns to [[Fig and Mulberry]] and asks [[Kashorn Longbrook|Kashorn]] for help. Kashorn criticizes Ag's disorderly spellbook, but gives him the materials needed and helps him copy the spell into his book free of charge.
Ag insinuates that he is going to use the spell to do crime in order to earn the money to pay Kashorn back, which rustles Kashorn's jimmies. Ag leaves.
Outside, Ag runs into Asher, who gives him 150 [[Gold]], his share of the money from selling the ruby dust earlier. Ag tells Asher to wait here (he doesn't) and [[Misty Step|Misty Steps]] back inside Fig and Mulberry, sending parchment and books scattering as he re-appears. He gives an overwhelmed and frazzled Kashorn 75 gold, and Kashorn is bewildered as to how Ag came up with the money so fast. He ushers Ag out of the store while insisting he will not loan him anything again.
---
Big Inky returns to [[Bottled Sand]] to receive more information about his bounty. Pryn accompanies him, though Big Inky does not share any information.
Inside, they meet with Akreas, who ushers them quickly into the cellar and shares a depiction of the spy for Urgan's Army: the drawing is a nearly perfect match for [[Dalas Greybark]].
Big Inky recognizes Dalas immediately, and leaves to go find his mark. Pryn sprints ahead to try and find Dalas first.
---

- Asher casts [[Eldritch Blast]] towards the giant moth, but misses. He sends his familiar, Ayula, flying forward towards Pryn and then causes her to explode, releasing a burst of regenerative energy, healing Pryn and spontaneously growing several plants nearby.
- Dalas stands up, picking up a [[Mason's Tools|Mason's Tool]] left nearby by [[Masonry Guild Headquarters - Haven's Breach|The Masonry Guild]], approaches the giant moth and commands it to "leave that little dragon alone", striking it and missing before [[Fighter#Level 2 Action Surge|Action Surging]] and attacking again, placing a [[Cavalier#Unwavering Mark|Unwavering Mark]] on the moth.

- Tanuryn slams his [[Songmace]] down, creating a discordant note as it swings through the air, crushing and killing the giant moth. Combat ends.
Asher checks on Pryn, but is cagey about Ayula when Pryn asks. He pats Pryn on the head, but she demands to be treated with respect, not as little and cute. They discuss their favorite school subjects, (not [[History]]), how "chips are rocks"., and [[The Fall of Valikin's Landing]]. Pryn tells Asher of [[Urgan, Doombringer|Urgan]] and his [[The Soul Axe|Axe]] but Asher is confident that [[David Yurei|His Grandpa]] is okay, even if everyone else is in [[The Shadow Realm]], they'll find a way to bring them back.
Dalas comes back around the corner after puking his guts out. Big Inky speaks to Yeepo about something in [[Gripptronik]].
Tanuryn and Pryn discuss if Dalas is okay. Pryn notices that Tanuryn has his [[Shield]] back early and asks him about it. Tanuryn explains that [[Ovranzo]] didn't really have the time to work on it.
Big Inky convinces Dalas to visit [[Gardens of Eve]] for a cure for his drunkenness and Pryn decides to tag along. In private, they discuss how Big Inky definitely does not plan on killing Dalas. Big Inky asks Pryn to trust him. Pryn begrudgingly agrees.
Meanwhile, Asher apologizes to Dalas for his earlier actions. Dalas forgives him and asks him to be honest in the future. Asher gives Dalas a [[Potion of Healing]] to give to Pryn. Dalas, confused, passes the potion along.
As the group walks and talks, Big Inky demands Dalas take them to [[Masonry Guild Headquarters - Haven's Breach|The Masonry Guild]] in order to deal with a "traitor" (the shapeshifting spy, Big Inky's mark). Dalas is confused and assumes that a [[Mason]] is working outside the Guild and leads Big Inky there.
Inside, Big Inky demands to know who Dalas recognizes, and he begins pointing out his coworkers: [[Mark]]
, [[Jake (Mason)|Jake]], [[AJ]], [[Rof Stonebelly|Rof]]... ...Dalas goes on to explain the wait list for masonry work given the lack of access to the [[Haven's Breach Quarry]].
Big Inky [[Investigation|Investigates]], but finds no trace of the spy. He deduces that the spy is likely interested in people of action - threats to Urgan - within the city and would gain little information from stonemasons. While thinking on where the spy could be, he recalls Pryn's recent exchange with Tanuryn: and Pryn's confusion that Tanuryn had picked his shield up from Ovranzo mere moments after he dropped it off.
The group makes haste back to [[The Haven's Breach Forge]].
---
Meanwhile, Asher returns to his tent and re-summons his [[Familiar]] [[Ayula (Familiar)|Ayula]]. He asks Ayula about how to bring people back to life, but she knows nothing on the subject. He summons [[Bud]] and asks him, and Bud points out that Asher uses his [[The Shadow Deck|Cards]] to summon creatures from [[The Shadow Realm]], so he simply needs the right card to bring them back. Asher ponders what kind of card he would need to summon his [[David Yurei|Grandpa]].
---
At the forge, the group meets with Ovranzo, who is working with delicate equipment suspending one of Pryn's [[Songsword|Songswords]] as he "tunes" it, drilling in places and adding material in others to affect the way wind flows through the blade.
Pryn asks Ovranzo about Tanuryn's shield, and Ovranzo says he is about halfway done, and plans on working with the other smiths to plate it in a new material tomorrow.
Pryn, in [[Draconic]], catches Ovranzo up on the spy situation. Pryn tells Ovranzo to stay here, in plain sight of the other smiths.
The group heads to [[Canvasward]] and finds Tanuryn's tent. inside, they find Tanuryn tied up. They untie him, and he accuses Dalas of tying him up. Pryn has Tanuryn play [[Darcy Leap the Wall]], which he does perfectly, nearly giving a bow at the end as he would their instructor, though he catches himself.
They discuss the shape changer, for the first time openly in [[Common]] in Dalas presence, and he points out that the shape changer appears to be trying to get close to Pryn, as they've seemingly only impersonated people she knows.
Alarmed, the party decides they need to round up all of their allies. First, everyone puts rocks in their pocket, assuming the shape changer cannot replicate things that are not immediately visible, and then depart to find the rest of the group.
They round up Ag, Asher, and Yeepo, quickly verifying their identities before giving them their own rocks.
With the party assembled and a secret rock code established, the party is certain that they are safe from the spy, and they set their minds to what they should do next in order to find the spy.
Asher, alarmed there is a shapeshifting spy among the population of Haven's Breach, rushes away to go find the spy, heading towards [[Barnacles]], much to the frustration of his peers.
Big Inky points out that Asher rushing off on his own might be a good thing, as they know who, if any of them, the spy is now likely to appear as.
Dalas thinks about what he knows about shapeshifters, how to combat them, and who in town may be of assistance ([[History]]):
- Magic users such as [[Kashorn Longbrook|Kashorn]] at [[Fig and Mulberry]] or [[Eve]] at [[Gardens of Eve]]
- A priest of [[Lunara]], though there is no temple to Lunara in Haven's Breach
- [[Moon Crest|Moon Crests]]! Which should be present on at least some of the ships at dock
Dalas also considers the options the shape changer has to escape if they are spooked, but given the multiple harbors and exits out of town, there's no strong lead to follow.
Big Inky brings up his [[Gray|Friend]] amongst the Swashbucklers, and the group departs to [[The Turtle's Claw]] to ask to borrow their Moon Crest.
---
Meanwhile, Asher enters Barnacles, which has become full and rowdy as the day enters it's evening. He dodges a stein as he steps through the door. He asks where the "weirdo who changes" is, but his voice is lost in the din of the bar. Asher casts [[Thaumaturgy]] and asks again where the weirdo is, catching the bar's attention. a [[Urist (Sailor)||Dwarven Sailor]] responds in disbelief that Asher is asking for a "weirdo who changes".
Asher offers 10 [[Gold]] for anyone with information on the shapeshifter, and the bar erupts, everyone insisting that they know or have seen a shape shifter with increasingly unlikely stories.
Through the chaos, Asher spots one person in particular, fleeing from Asher's sight. Moments later, another person who was not present before appearing nearby, egging on the crowd as they swarm Asher. Asher notices this pattern of people disappearing and reappearing at the back of the crowd, egging the crowd onward again, and again: the shapeshifter is here.
Asher sends his familiars to follow the shapeshifter.
Asher puts 10 Gold down on the bar, buying drinks for everyone and causing the crowd to mostly disperse. As Asher goes to pursue the shapeshifter, he is stopped by the Dwarf he met earlier, who is angry that he was not given the 10 Gold. Asher points out that they can't find the changeling without beer, and the Dwarf seems to accepts this answer and offers to help Asher.
Asher gives the Dwarf a rock, as is custom when dealing with a shapeshifter. The dwarf asks Asher how they will find a shapeshifter, and Asher says he doesn't know. Asher introduces himself to the dwarf, who is named "Urist".
Asher excuses himself as his familiars inform him of the shapeshifter's presence in the cellar below. Asher uses his [[Darkvision]] to search the cellar, unafraid.
Asher rounds the corner and finds himself face to face with his friend [[Zarek Duskwraith]]. Zarek tilts his head at Asher, confused. Asher tries to catch up with his friend, asking him what he's doing here as a hand reaches from behind Asher with a cloth. The hand cover's Asher's mouth with the cloth, lulling him to sleep as the [[Silent Image]] of Zarek fades...
---
Meanwhile, a rowdy scene unfolds at [[The Turtle's Claw]].
Big Inky reunites with his friend [[Gray]] as stories of [[Kraken]] encounters and sinking ships are told in the background.
Big Inky asks Gray how much it will cost to borrow his ship's [[Moon Crest]] and Gray offers it free of charge, so long as it is returned by the morning, otherwise the lives of his crew will be in danger. Big Inky agrees, and the group heads to [[Gray's Ship|the ship]], a 3 masted ship with metal armor plating and armed to the teeth with harpoons.
Pryn flies up to the figurehead of the ship and pulls the Moon Crest down.
As the group departs, Big Inky promises a good story upon it's return and warns Gray his friends may not be who they seem. Gray is excited to hear Big Inky's story.
The group heads towards [[North Harbor]] as Dalas explains [[Lunara]]'s domain over truth and the moon, the moon crest may simply reveal shape shifters in it's presence.
As the group arrives at [[Barnacles]] they observe [[Urist (Sailor)|Urist]] getting kicked out as the bouncer complains that Urist is accosting everyone, asking them what his ex-wife's name is. Urist begins waving around the rock that Asher gave him, asserting that his ex-wife is named "[[Shiela]]". The group approaches and asks Urist about Asher, who he says is inside.
The group enters, and Dalas observes there is another exit out of the building onto the back patio. He goes to speak to the bartender...
---
Asher awakens, finding himself tied to a chair with his friend [[Valentina Dawncrest]] in front of him.
His familiars whisper in his mind, telling him that the person in front of him is the [[Doppelganger Spy|Shapeshifter]].
"Valentina" begins asking Asher questions, feigning concern that he has suddenly begun spending time with new, dangerous people.
Asher doesn't answer the question, struggling against his restraints and saying "I didn't know you were into this".
"Val" asks again, about the [[Big Inky|Frog]] and [[Prynazalya|Dragon]] that Asher has been spending time with.
Asher demands to be slapped, which "Val" does. She asks again about the "little dragon".
Asher tells her that he has "a little dragon" for her.
The shapeshifter gives up and kicks Asher over assuming it's true form. Dark, scaly skin, blue eyes, a long lanky figure with elongated arms and no nose: a [[Doppelganger]].
The doppelganger demands answers about Asher's companions, and Asher calls him nasty in response. The doppelganger kicks him again.
Asher brings [[Ayula (Familiar)|Ayula]] closer and triggers a [[Pact of the Ancient Magician#Level 3 - Realm Tear|Realm Tear]], sending her back to [[The Shadow Realm]] in an implosion of darkness, damaging the Doppelganger, himself, and the chair he is restrained to, freeing himself in the process.
Asher sends [[Bud]] to jump on the doppelganger's face!
---
Upstairs, Dalas approaches the bartender, orders an ale, and asks them about Asher's whereabouts. The busy bartender makes a moment to speak with Dalas, and says he saw Asher earlier, but didn't notice him leave.
As Dalas and the Bartender speak, Big Inky hears the "thud" of Asher hitting the floor downstairs. Dalas chugs his ale and the group rushes into the cellar to investigate.
---
Combat begins!
- Asher stands up and backs up away from the Doppelganger. Bud uses his "Scare" ability, but it fails.
- The Doppelganger attacks Bud, who vanishes back to the Shadow Realm with a "poof".
He approaches Asher and slams his fist into him, knocking him unconscious and leaving him with a [[Lingering Injury]], a mangled left arm, broken from the impact of the punch.
Big Inky, Dalas, and Pryn rush down the stairs, with Dalas in front.
- Pryn casts [[Dissonant Whispers]], causing the Doppelganger to retreat into the corner of the room.
Pryn lets out a [[Kobold#Draconic Cry|Draconic Cry]], emboldening her allies.
- Asher succeeds on his first Death Saving Throw.
- The Doppelganger regards Pryn, "the dragon I've heard so much about."
Pryn responds "You have heard of me?"
The Doppelganger reports "Nobody else will."
The Doppelganger approaches and seems to move through Pryn, centering himself in the room and letting out a wide area attack hurting and [[Frightened|Frightening]] the combatants. The doppelganger shifts into the form of [[Rilker Gelesar|Rilker]] to try and throw Big Inky off his game.
- Dalas, unable to approach, throws his Pitchfork at "Rilker", hitting him and [[Cavalier#Unwavering Mark|Marking]] him. Dalas uses [[Fighter#Level 1 Second Wind|Second Wind]] to gather his strength. The doppelganger is incensed that somebody as simple as a "farmer" would think he could kill him.
- Big Inky, angered that the Doppelganger would imitate his friend, places a [[Blood Curse of Bloated Agony]] on the doppelganger, hindering it if it uses multiple attacks.
He fires [[Big Inky's Hand Ballista|His Hand Ballista]], hitting the doppelganger.
- Pryn asks the doppelganger "What are you doing?"
The doppelganger insists that Pryn will learn nothing.
Pryn casts [[Detect Thoughts]].
> *The doppelganger perceives Big Inky and Pryn as the threats. He has total confidence in his cause. An [[Oxali Grippli]] hired him.
>
>Pryn probes deeper.
>
>The doppelganger was looking specifically for Pryn, or creatures like Pryn: beings of myth and legend, chosen ones, to be snuffed out before they can ever become a threat to [[Urgan, Doombringer]].
- Pryn lets out another [[Kobold#Draconic Cry|Draconic Cry]], screaming in the monster's face.
- Asher fails his second death saving throw.
- The doppelganger attacks Pryn and misses. He attacks again, taking damage from his blood curse.
Pryn uses [[Silvery Barbs]], causing the attack to miss.
The Doppelganger shifts again to look like the Grippli that hired him: a face that Big Inky immediately recognizes as his sister, [[B'Inky]].
- Still too afraid to approach the doppelganger, Dalas pulls out his [[Whip]] and strikes at the beast, hitting him again, and again in a frenzy, as the stress of the day, being invited along for the adventure, his confrontation with Asher, venting to Rinda, his memory of [[Rilan Forgeflame|Rilan]], washes over him. He strikes the monster across the face and sending it collapsing to the ground, unconscious.
Combat ends.
Big Inky stabilizes ([[Medicine]]) Asher.
Pryn explains that the last Grippli that the doppelganger transformed into was who hired him. Big Inky, enraged that his sister bested him, takes his [[Maul]] and smashes it into the unconscious doppelganger, killing him. He explains that the other Grippli is his sister.
Pryn casts [[Healing Word]] on Asher, waking him up.
Big Inky drags the corpse of the doppelganger out of the cellar, claiming that he "fixed their rat problem" and leaving without further explanation.
Dalas follows behind, leaving a Gold on the counter and apologizing for the mess.
The group departs, walking back towards [[Bottled Sand]].
Asher is worried about his ability to draw cards with a hurt arm. Pryn asks him why he can't use his other hand, which he says is for holding the deck. Dalas suggests he affix some kind of pouch to his arm to hold the cards, freeing up his hands.
Pryn asks Big Inky why B'Inky would want to kill him, but Big Inky says that Pryn knows more than him at this point. Big Inky says that he thinks that Pryn is important to his mission. Pryn asks if this means that Big Inky wants to become one of her [[Prynazalya's Followers|Followers]], but Big Inky again declines.
Dalas remarks that whoever orchestrated this plot must have had some understanding of the legends of [[The Lacodian Frontier]] that lend Pryn her significance.
Pryn asks Dalas about sisters, and Dalas explains parental and sibling relationships and how they differ from clutchmates. Pryn comments on how exhausting parenting sounds, and Dalas assures her that people find it worthwhile.
The group arrives at Bottled Sand where Big Inky presents Akreas with the corpse of the doppelganger. Without asking questions, Akreas pays the bounty.
Big Inky asks Akreas for his informant. Akreas considers what to say for a moment, before declining. Akreas says that he is part of a [[The Society of Doors|Society]] of people with a shared mission: maintaining the balance of the realm and defeating [[Urgan, Doombringer|Urgan]].
Big Inky asks if this mission is finished with this bounty, and Akreas says that this is one small mission, and that he is "one Akreas of many". He offers the group more work in the future.
Akreas says that he has heard rumor of the group's upcoming [[Journey to Laverasala]] and gives the quest his endorsement.
Big Inky expresses interest in Akreas' cause. Akreas tells them that they are welcome wherever the society is, their presence marked by the [[Door Emblem]].
The group departs and splits the bounty (200 [[Gold]]) amongst themselves (29 Gold Each).
A 10-day [[Post-Intertwining of Fates Downtime|Period of Downtime]] begins the next morning as the group prepares and recovers from their [[Lingering Injury|Lingering Injuries]] before departing on their [[Journey to Laverasala]] on [[12 Hammer 1489]].
