![[Galad_Portrait.png]] # Overview Sir Galad Steelsworn was a Male [[Goliath]] [[Paladin]] and a [[Knight-Errant]] of [[The Order of the Green Blades]] stationed in [[Valikin's Landing]]. He was the wielder of [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone]]. Just before his death he swore to aid [[Prynazalya]] in reclaiming [[Nylavorna]] from [[Urgan's Army]], however he was killed by [[Urgan, Doombringer]] during [[The Fall of Valikin's Landing]] before he could render meaningful aid. # Description Galad Steelsworn was a tall, incredibly muscular man. As a [[Goliath]] he hailed from a [[Frost Giant]] ancestry. His primary weapon was a [[Dwarven Darksteel Sword]]. # History ## Early History (??? - [[1488 AoM]]) Galad presumably grew up in or around [[Respite]] before being inducted into [[The Order of the Green Blades]] as a [[Page]], eventually becoming a [[Squire]], a [[Knight]], and ultimately the wielder of [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone]]. [[Dalas Greybark]] was somewhat aware of Galad from his time in the Order, meaning Galad would have been present around [[1458 AoM]]. At some point, Galad became good friends with [[Corva Lightleaf]]. Eventually, Galad became a [[Knight-Errant]] stationed in [[Valikin's Landing]]. ## [[Campaign 2]] ([[1488 AoM]]) ### [[The Fall of Valikin's Landing]] Galad received [[Prynazalya]], [[Tanuryn]], [[Ovranzo]], and their ally [[Dalas Greybark]] upon their arrival at [[Green Blades Headquarters in Valikin's Landing|The Green Blade Headquarters]] in [[Valikin's Landing]]. Upon hearing of [[The Storming of Morn's Peak]] Galad immediately swore fealty to Prynazalya and promised to aid her in her quest. Galad immediately set to work seeking out other allies, a difficult task given [[The Conquest of Urgan, Doombringer|The ongoing war]]. After being introduced to Dalas, Galad became suspicious that he was the same Squire who went missing many years ago. Later, Galad would meet Prynazalya at [[The Rusty Shield]] and report on the status of his search for allies. In his report he criticized the cowards fleeing the city, a jab aimed perhaps at the deserter, Dalas. Galad scanned the room for threats using [[Detect Evil and Good]] and left without confrontation. The next day Galad would intervene when Prynazalya was being accosted by a [[Particularly Angry Man]] who was unhappy with Pryn for hustling him. He mentioned he had found a [[Galad Steelsworn's Potential Ally|Potential Ally]], but did not say who. After [[Urgan's Army]] began it's attack on [[Valikin's Landing]], Galad rushed to the defense of Prynazalya and her entourage as [[Urgan, Doombringer]] himself approached them. Ultimately, Galad's mighty shield, [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|Heart of Stone]] and the magic of his [[Protection from Evil and Good]] were unable to stop Urgan, who killed Galad with a single blow of his [[The Soul Axe|Soul Axe]]. In his final moment, Galad passed on the riven pieces of [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone]] to [[Prynazalya]]. ## Legacy Pryn later incorporated the broken pieces of The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone into her nest. At times, Pryn would see Galad in her dreams, though their significance, if any, is unknown. ### [[The Battle of Haven's Breach]] ([[1489 AoM]]) When [[Dalas Greybark]] took up the since-repaired [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone|Heart of Stone]], a memory of Galad appeared to Dalas, seemingly no longer disapproving of the failed squire, Galad simply asked Dalas what word, or feeling, the shield invoked in him. For Dalas that feeling was "resolve". # Inventory ## Former - [[The Crystal Shield, Heart of Stone]] - [[Dwarven Darksteel Sword]]
