# Overview Lazhna Whitesmith is a [[Changeling]] that normally takes the form of a female [[Human]]. She was born to [[Ketrine]] and [[Vasily Skeingold]] in [[Gavony]] under the name Phisostasia Vasilyevna Skeingold, though her family and friends referred to her as "Fiska". Lazhna is most notable as a member of [[The Boy Scout Boys]] and as a prodigious [[Chronurgy]] [[Wizard]]. In addition to her mastery of arcane magic, Lazhna possessed an uncanny talent for investigation. She utilized this talent to put together the mysteries that faced The Boy Scout Boys on their adventures. She also possessed a talent for weaving, which made it's way into her spellcraft. Lazhna attended [[Kessig Monastery]] alongside [[Verrisi]], the two were fast friends. At first, Lazhna's goals revolved around survival and bringing her father to justice for the death of her mother, however she was a stalwart friend and took great personal risks to aid her fellow party members in their personal quests. --- # Description As a changeling, Lazhna had the ability to change her appearance at will, making describing her a difficult task. When presenting as Fiska: 5’2”, mass of wavy blonde hair usually worn in a ponytail. Eyes a dullish blue color, but lively and cheery. Soft face, soft features, overall somewhere between cute and beautiful but not quite hitting either one. She was observed by [[Verrisi]] to be very outgoing and chatty, in the kind of way that is engaging and endearing rather than annoying most of the time. She is quite short and has a wiry build. She tended to wear her standard-issue monastery attire in creative and non-standard ways, including decorating with her own embroidery. . Fiska took the dress code of [[Kessig Monastery]] less seriously than most. When presenting as Lazhna: 5’9”, very short brown hair with a deep side part, swept to partially cover one eye/half of the face. Eyes light golden amber. Face is striking and a little angular, body is thin but not necessarily fit, somewhat androgynous.  Lazhna bears some resemblance to what her mother, [[Ketrine]], looked like. In her true form: 5’4”, pure white skin, silvery hair, eyes very light taupe. Long thin nose, high cheekbones, narrow eyes. Build reflects how a body should look given her dietary and activity habits at the time. Right now, a little thin, but fairly fit especially in the arms. --- ## Gallery ![[lazhna.png]] *A depiction of Lazhna.* ![[skeingold_family.png]] *A portrait of [[The Skeingold Family]]. Vasily is currently married to his fourth wife [[Sirina Skeingold|Sirina]], with whom he had his seventh (and probably last) child. Fiska’s mother [[Ketrine]] was Vasily’s second wife. As a child, she was told stories of how beautiful her mother had been, and that she had sadly died giving birth to Fiska. Her father had always been a bit more cold and distant with Fiska than with her other siblings, both older and younger, which confused her for a time. Eventually, she assumed that her father's attitude towards her was some misguided anger at being the cause of his wife's death. Fiska did not know she or her mother were changelings until later in life. As a child, she appeared as a normal human and had no conscious control over her appearance. When Fiska was 8, she was sent to train in [[Wolfteaching]] and get a general education at [[Kessig Monastery]] as a boarding student. It was intended that she would learn martial arts here in order to work at the family business as a transporter and guard for valuable shipments. During her time at Kessig, Fiska became good friends with [[Verrisi]], a softspoken [[Half-Elf]] who was an orphan taken in by the monks. She also maintained contact with her best friend from home, [[Dimitri Kordov]], a human boy, the son of a bookmaker.  When Fiska was 14, Verrisi accidently knocked her out while sparring. When this happened, Fiska reflexively reverted to her natural, pale changeling form. At first, neither of them knew what happened, but decided to keep the incident to themselves and try to figure out the cause on their own. Eventually they deduced that Fiska must be a changeling, and that many people would be uncomfortable or even hostile if they knew. So they kept it a secret, even from Mitya. During a visit home when she was 18, she finally revealed her changeling identity to Mitya, who was immediately accepting and understood her [[Changeling Incident in Gavony|need for secrecy and caution]].  Unfortunately, her stepmother Sirina overheard their conversation and confronted Fiska later. Sirina told her the truth about how her mother had died: Vasily had discovered that she was a changeling and, no longer feeling that he could trust her, killed her. Sirina made it plain that she would reveal Fiska’s identity as a changeling when Vasily returned home from business, and insinuated that she would likely meet the same fate as her mother. That night, Fiska gathered what she could from her family home and snuck out in the dead of night before her father could return home. She stopped briefly to say goodbye to Mitya, who confessed that he was in love with her and wanted to leave with her. Unsure how to respond, Fiska simply told him it wasn't safe, and that she couldn't drag him into it. She left, promising to find a way to see him again. She traveled back to Kessig briefly, in disguise, to gather her belongings there and tell Verrisi what had happened. Then she set out to Krashaprovos, hoping to blend into the crowd and search for answers, as well as put some distance between her and Gavony. Verrisi had told her a lot about her time with a group called [[The Boy Scout Boys]] and told her where to find them if she wanted to join up and create a new identity with them. ## [[The Boy Scout Boys Campaign]] ([[1458 AoM|1458]]-[[1459 AoM]]) ![[Verrisi's Return to Kessig Monastery#Verrisi's Return to Kessig Monastery]] ![[The Reunion of The Boy Scout Boys#The Reunion of The Boy Scout Boys]] ![[The Reclamation of Erba Terra#The Reclamation of Erba Terra]] ![[Post-Reclamation of Erba Terra Downtime#Post-Reclamation of Erba Terra Downtime]] ![[The Flamerule Fete of 1458#The Flamerule Fete of 1458]] ![[Krashaprovos' Midsummer Festival of 1458#Krashaprovos' Midsummer Festival of 1458]] ![[The Investigation of The Crown#The Investigation of The Crown]] ![[Grom Rescue Mission#Grom Rescue Mission]] ![[The Attack on The Ardea Goliath#The Attack on The Ardea Goliath]] ![[The Final Confrontation With Y'Driltha#The Final Confrontation With Y'Driltha]] ![[The Aftermath of The Burning of Krashaprovos#The Aftermath of The Burning of Krashaprovos]] ![[Trip to Gavony#Trip to Gavony]] ![[Journey to Astrazalian#Journey to Astrazalian]] ![[The Defense of Astrazalian#The Defense of Astrazalian]] ![[Downtime in Astrazalian#Downtime in Astrazalian]] ![[Journey Through the Shattered Steppe#Journey Through the Shattered Steppe]] ![[Delve of the Necropolis of Luvon Ilix#Delve of the Necropolis of Luvon Ilix]] ![[Journey to Kono#Journey to Kono]] ![[The Disruption of Kha'Nyv#The Disruption of Kha'Nyv]] ![[The Search for the Pyre Shard of the Cinder Isles#The Search for the Pyre Shard of the Cinder Isles]] ## Post-Campaign ([[1459 AoM|1459]]-[[1488 AoM|1488 AoM]]) ## [[Campaign 2]] ([[1488 AoM]]) --- # Proficiencies ## Skills - [[Acrobatics]] - [[Animal Handling]] - [[Arcana]] - [[Athletics]] - [[History]] - [[Investigation]] - [[Performance]] ## Tools - [[Weaver's Tools]] ## Languages - [[Common]] - [[Dwarvish]] - [[Elvish]] - [[Leonin (Language)|Leonin]] # Inventory - [[The Sands of Time]] - [[Magi's Shiftweave]] - [[Circlet of the Moon]] - [[Ioun Stone of Reserve]] - [[Lazhna's Spell-Infused Arcane Grimoire]] - [[Weave Absorbing Dagger of Warning]] - [[Powerful Staff of Defense]] - [[Lazhna's Jade Middle Finger]] --- # Trivia - She is an accomplished knitter and embroiderer.
